We need a LOT more of this

Teens can get a second chance for shoplifting, or getting in a fist fight, or underage drinking … the same s*** teens have always done and still do. But if you commit a grown ass adult armed carjacking, you need some grown consequences. |
They weren't kidding. There were simply explaining the thoughts and policies of progressives. |
Do the crime, do the time. Yes- I spoke with someone at a community safety walk type thing who works with youth in the city, and he confirmed my suspicion that the 'rehab' services for briefly adjudicated youth are pretty spotty. So if the city isn't going to put any effort into the kids before they turn them loose on the street, they need to get back to real incarceration levels. Can't have your cake and eat it too. |
I believe PP is parodying wokes and their belief if critical race theory. |
No. “Teens” under DC’s clown-world laws include any criminal up to age TWENTY SIX! (26 years old). DC’s city counsel decided a few years back, to re-define “youthful offender.” That term means 18 and under, in most of the USA. Elsewhere, a criminal under age 18 goes to a “juvenile hall”’or reform-school program, which is much less strict because it’s for kids who commit a minor crime. But in DC, anyone up to age 26 gets the same soft treatment. The mayor gladly signed the council’s extreme-progressive bill. |

The man arrested today for murdering the two brothers outside the restaurant where they worked in NE had the charges dropped when he stole a car and crashed it back in 2021.
Had he been in jail where he belongs, those men would be alive. So many deaths on the hands of those who set criminals free. |

It’s really ironic that after the Leonsis announcement all the crime apologists were Tweeting pics of the Christmas market as if to say the crime was not a problem in that area. |
Why were the charges dropped? |
The federally appointed USAO declines to prosecute or "no papers" up to 67% of cases. Prior to 2017 the prosecution rate was @ 73% across both R and D appointed USAs, now, it has crept up since the end of Obama's term, and during Trump and Biden, and, here we are. Occasionally the no paper rate dips if Graves is particularly criticized or called to the Hill for questioning. DC has one of the lowest, if not the lowest prosecution rate of adult crimes in the country. The Congressional Committee with oversight over DC has had hearings, it is past time to have the Committee with oversight over DOJ join for some robust oversight.
The crime lab should also be federalized. There are over 1,000 outstanding warrants for failure to appear in court or non-compliance with terms of conditions of release, just for DC. If federal marshals helped clean that backlog, and the outstanding warrants in nearby MD and VA there would be a very positive impact on crime. Warrants have names and addresses on them, would be a simple exercise and these are known criminals. |
This. Second chances where reasonable- absolutely. Armed hijacking? Beating or injuring someone to hospital admit level? Sorry. Needs real consequences. Including removal from where they can do further harm. Age does not matter. If they had done that with the 6 yr old who strangled his K teacher until she blacked out, he could not have shot his 1st grade teacher the following year and continued to endanger his unsuspecting classmates. |
Age 26?! On what basis?? This cannot be real! |

When progressive policies collide, there can be only one winner.
