It's not the poor either. These are crimes of opportunity. |
I think they are driving around looking for victims. They are not just driving down Nebraska Ave and think "hey, there is a Canada Goose. Great thing I have this pistol I. This stolen car" These people are looking for victims. |
+1 Gives them an adrenalin rush, and they have very little in the way of a conscience or empathy for others. On top of that, they know there won't be real consequences, and they get a lot od approval and attrntion via social media. It's tragic that they are growing up this way. The types of men who previously provided guidance as school principals and ministers aren't particularly visible any more. |
They've found the weak spot in the system and are exploiting it. |
I get it but what are we going to say to the dog owners? Put your frenchie in a disguise? Teach them to use a litterbox? Dogs aren't accessories that we can just decide not to wear. |
Leftists are getting robbed to and they are changing their tune. Funny how that happens. |
It's true. I just heard Kojo and Tom absolutely destroy Phil Mendelson on their show today and it was all about crime. If I didn't know their voices so well, I'd have thought someone tuned my radio in to a conservative news station. |
Pretty sure that the group named "Guardian Angels" came here from NYC at the worst of the crime wave in the 1990s. I remember seeing them in the subway. I think I remember crime dropping after they began patrolling crime hot spots in D.C. |
This is why I wish church/temple etc -any faith, not fundamentalist--was still a prevalent thing. Kids are being raised by social media, in urban settings AND in the mid west. Seems like between this stuff and school shootings, we have a generation of sociopaths seeking some kind of sensation and belonging, even if its completely antisocial. Id prefer some influence from community structures, and church used to play a role in bringing people together and providing some guidance to the youngers. |
PP here. I agree. I've worked with some amazing principals over the years who also provided wonderful guidance and appropriate consequences that did not strip self-esteem but involved extra study halls, mentoring, and cleanup details at school. |
Here it is: https://wamu.org/story/23/12/01/d-c-council-chair-phil-mendelson-on-the-mayors-latest-crime-and-policing-bill/ You hit the tenor of the interview about correct. If you were not in the know you would have thought that this was a right wing "Fox" radio interview. |
The Council’s Coddle Criminals Caucus has their Hug a Thug program. |
Nope, just another vast right-wing conspiracy. |
