| Wish the OP would update. |
You're welcome! Now update!!! |
|
Op here. Thank you everyone for following along and for rooting for me and sending words of solidarity.
I survived but I am telling you, it has been hard. This is just really not a good workplace for me. I did not go to our holiday lunch because I was actually sick and I couldn’t! It was a little annoying at the time because I had put so much energy into mentally preparing myself and had even gotten a refill on my Valium prescription. I was planning to just take large amounts of Valium and sit there and disassociate. But I wasn’t able to go due to illness. I confirmed everything with HR and the vesting happens on the 1st so I can resign on the 2nd, which I plan to do. In the morning. I am wanting to do it professionally so I will give 2 weeks notice but I’m desperately hoping they ask me to leave sooner. The last person who left they did not allow her to stay 2 weeks. I might start a new thread just to talk about my resignation. I know the standard advice is to do it with your supervisor in person, but I really don’t want to do that. Can I just email/text my resignation?? Would that truly be so terrible? |

Thanks for the update OP. I have been routing for you. Email is fine, CC HR and anyone else besides your immediate boss that you need to notify. The more the merrier.
Glad you didn't have to go to the holiday party. Keep us posted. I have been through something similar so I am personally invested. |
| Tell us how today goes OP. Hopefully you were emptying out your work space of personal items over the past few weeks and can walk out with what you brought today. Good luck. |

Op here. Just cleaning up my computer and emails in case I get walked out. My office is already completely free of anything personal.
I’ll be sending my resignation shortly. I don’t think today will be my last day. I think they will let me stay until the end of the week at least. I’m giving 2 weeks notice and will plan to work those 2 weeks unless told otherwise (though I desperately don’t want to). |
| Good luck! How much time off will you get before the next job starts? |
| Great, OP! Keep us posted on how it wraps up. |
| Good job! Thanks for the update! |
| Congrats OP! |
| OP please update us once you have officially given/sent your resignation. Rooting for you! |
| I am so invested! I need an update! |
| OP, update? Were you walked out?? |
| Congratulations on making it to Jan 2! |

Op here. I submitted it yesterday and they accepted it. No snark on either end. But they are expecting me to stay the full 2 weeks it appears. I have a meeting with my boss today so we will see what happens (maybe I’ll get walked out!!!!!).
So I have a few options for my next role but I haven’t committed to anything yet, and I’m also waiting to see what happens on a few other roles I’ve interviewed for. Honestly, my hope/fantasy is to find some way to take the next 6 months off (and do a bit of freelancing in there to help augment our income but without spending too much time), but I don’t know if that’s realistic. It means so much to me that all of you are out there rooting for me. Thank you. I am truly grateful. |
