Trust me… no one is giving out As. Parents don’t care either. “Why are you calling me?” Maybe bc your child just beat up a kid in my classroom and told me to eff off. It’s literally just a babysitting gig at this point. I cannot wait to quit at the end of this year. The future is bleak as someone else already pointed out.
Just curious are you at a W school, ghetto school, or somewhere in between?

My kids are at a regular MCPS school and it's nothing like this. Either it's a very bad school or complete fiction.

Again, not seeing anyone here who has read Marx.

On the left we have people parroting Soviet groupthink techniques without foreknowledge or irony... No, their "equity" isn't Marxist. But their reified evangelical ideology sure does borrow a lot from the applied Marxists c. Cold war.

Then on the right we have people who think Marxists are hiding in their wood pile like it's 1955.

In both cases I think it's cosplay. I would love to see some actual critical thinking, the kind that is capable of working through opposing viewpoints to find their logical conclusions, capable of understanding that it's entirely reasonable to want to have a level playing field where people aren't gaming the system, and where every outcome isn't part of some zero-sum fantasy.

The government redistribution of resources to level the playing field so everyone ends up equal is a Marxist concept, no?

That's how it was applied. That's not what's happening here.

And, Ms. Joe McCarthy, despite your fulminating about conspiracies to turn 'Murika red, there are no communists in the woodpile. Did your family come from a formerly Communist country? I've noticed those people tend to be the most reactive--perhaps sensing creeping fascism, or perhaps just paranoid.

Ensuring all children have equal access to the same educational resources is simply good civics. I know you want your kids to participate in some dystopian sorting hat hunger games thing for your own reasons, but by American standards they should rise or fall on their own merit.

That's exactly what's happening here. MCPS spends millions more in schools in poorer neighborhoods than it does in schools in wealthier neighborhoods. But you're still trying to sell the lie that children in MoCo don't "have equal access to the same educational resources. And you do it to guilt people into paying higher taxes while receiving worse services. That's because progressives like you want to reach deeper into people's lives and redistribute those resources as well which, of course, is Marxist. There's no aspect of life you don't want to interfere with to try to get everyone to end up equal which, yet again, is Marxist. Look at the Blueprint for MD. It covers everything from food to day care to medicine. When the government takes resources from some people and give us it to other people based on what it believes they need, that's Marxism. If you were more liberal, like me, you would want people to determine their own lives instead of trying to control everyone.

Just as not every kid gets As, MCPS is not trying "to get everyone to end up equal".

But if you keep saying it often enough, just like with the gullible MAGA crowd, maybe you'll get more people to believe it.

That's what equity is...an authority (usually the government) treating people unequally (aka discrimination) so everyone ends up equal. I don't know why progressives deny this. It's what you want, isn't it?

We've been here. Equity is an attempt to account for centuries of discriminatory practices, results of which carry on today.

You want to discriminate against white people who never owned slaves and discriminate in favor of black people who were never slave to assuage your white guilt? No thank you.

And your definition is what's on the brochure. My explanation is how its implemented. Again, equity is an authority (usually the government) treating people unequally (aka discrimination) so everyone ends up equal. Do you deny that?

Black families had no opportunity to amass generational wealth. White families amassed generational wealth on Black backs. Thies inequities are still with us.
