A college admissions officer might disagree! |
Kids that really belong in these classes don’t need tutors. Know your kid. I can’t stand seeing all these miserable kids either. |
Did you actually look at the link you posted? How many schools didn't hit 50%? My goodness! |
8 of 25 high schools did not even hit 50% 15 out of 25 high schools did not hit 57% That is A LOT of students getting no credit and probably 2/3 of the students getting 3 or less |
Yeah you're reading comprehension is questionable. |
Stop being disingenuous. In 2019 only 4 schools didn't hit 50% In 2020 only 2 schools didn't hit 50% In 2021 8 schools didn't hit 50%, but we all know what happened then, don't we? But then again your agenda is clear. |
Not to mention that the AP exam is like a final exam. It's pathetic that MCPS got rid of them. |
Having a big cumulative exam at the end is definitely one of the bonuses of AP classes for MCPS students. I’m not so worried about how my kid scores, just that they learn how how to study for and take a final. |
Magnet kids are taking an intensive magnet science class, and an intensive double math class in one period. That's like 2 APs worth of extra load. |
The secret to studying for a final is to study and work all year, and not just cram for each module test. |
Having a tutor does not necessarily mean that the content is too hard. Sometimes the teaching style is not a match for the student, or they just need personal attention that they can't get in a 2500 person school with 31 students in class. |
I love you. Zing. |
Hopefully you're aware of MCPS' agenda? Spend as little money as possible on academics is second only to push bright kids down in the name of equity. There are only so many AP teachers. They aren't going to your kid. |
| My kid switched from US history to AP Gov today in school. The guidance counselors and the schools need to have better pathways lined up. And why oh why are basic kids taking all of these honors courses. It means nothing. Are they basically just non-remedial? It’s so confusing. |
These days, Honors is often the lowest level course available. |
