I think lots of people get confused saying there are men’s divisions and woman’s divisions in pro sports. There are not.

Basically every sport has an open division for all (NBA, NHL, MLB, etc.) and a woman’s only division. If there were no woman’s leagues there would be almost no woman professional athletes.

Chess has an open division for all, unlike most sports women compete in it as male physical advantage is not applicable. But chess still has some woman’s tournaments that serve a purpose to promote more women entering the game. Also, there are woman who don’t compete in mix gendered sport, mainly in the Middle East, and this gives them a forum to compete.

Since making it big he has leaned into the country rock aspects of his musical persona and become more Nashville based. Chris Rock on the other hand is a comedian from NYC. Chris Rock has a similar style to Dave Chappelle who is also a comedian, and from DC. Chris Rock made fun of Halle Berry and got slapped at the Oscars by Will Smith. Dave Chappelle has made fun of transgenderism and been criticized for it howver the transgender jokes he made were similar in tone to his jokes about both black and white people. All three are Gen Xers that were popular around the turn of the century that have been coasting on their past success since then. The three of them together, along with JK Rowland and the boy/girl band artists like Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, pretty much define nineties/naughties popular American culture for all its good and bad.

First, our schools weren't closed for two years. They were virtual for one year, hybrid for one quarter. Also, schools which had the ability to maintain 6' of distancing remained open for almost the entire time.

Second, EU countries did close schools. they didn't always close them at the same times and for the same length, but they did.

Third, Trump was President during the pandemic.

I haven’t seen any studies on chess (probably because I haven’t looked), but there absolutely have been studies on math ability and recent studies show no difference between the sexes. There was a consistent difference in older studies, before roughly the 1980s, but the difference narrowed around the 90s and started disappearing in the 2000s. The studies just tracked math scores on a large scale so can’t prove causation, but the obvious inference is that girls’ scores have gone up as “girls can’t do math” stereotypes have lost some strength.

Those numbers are only for the US, so I’m not sure what the trends are globally. But the discussion that I saw noted that both boys AND girls in many other countries do better than US boys on average. The US isn’t very good at teaching math.

The difference isn’t biological or at least not primarily biological. It is in the vastly better training and competition that boys get in chess, which a transwomen would have benefited from.
