Then these people should ensure that discipline and RJ are implemented well. Every infraction doesn’t require suspension or expulsion but it does require accountability, remediation, and respect. |
Unfortunately, the MD legislature changed how juveniles are prosecuted last year. Minors under 13 won't be charged with crimes by the DA. Not that I am advocating for minors to be incarcerated, but consequences still need to happen. It's a natural way for humans to learn. Nothing wrong with an appropriate consequence. I'm worried about the future implications of this if it is not monitored very closely. https://www.wmar2news.com/maryland-legislature-looking-at-juvenile-justice-reform-in-the-upcoming-session https://www.wbaltv.com/article/maryland-juvenile-justice-reform-law-impact/42679696#:~:text=The%20sweeping%20legislation%20that%20took,prohibits%20detention%20for%20misdemeanor%20cases. |
That's all good and well and I get you are bitter, but it doesn't explain why MCPD isn't doing their job. |
As we already know, local politicians are making our schools more and more dangerous. But why? |
I'm all for RJ but there is a point when repeat offenders aren't responding and sterner measures are needed. |
Why bother when you can just blame the schools. Sure, they aren't equipped for lawenforcement but a lot of people don't understand this. |
Duh. They don’t care. |
|
MCPS and MCPD must be dragged into a room to figure out an effective solution, or this will be only worse. But keep voting for people who have more fun things to do. |
THIS |
WRONG! |
This is complete nonsense. Eliminating the ineffective SRO jobs does not push cops out of schools. Their jurisdiction is Montgomery county and they're responsible for enforcing laws here PERIOD. This hasn't changed. |
I think what he's saying is the cops are angry the politicians eliminated the cushy SRO jobs so they've purposely let schools turn into the wild west out of spite. |
How many times do we have to tell you that the cops only respond when they are called and that school officials have a stated position of avoiding calling the police for reasons of racial justice and equity? The police cannot respond to crimes they aren't alerted to. This talking point is ridiculous. |
So you're saying school officials are covering up crimes? If one student assaults another, and that student decides to press charges is the school official also charged as an accomplice for covering up felony assault? |
are you really this dumb or just trolling. Cops can't just walk into any MCPS school building. Eliminating SROs = cops pushed out of schools. How are they supposed to know when a student is taking drugs to arrest them? Dummy. |
