Black Conservatives

Black people aren’t a monolith. Recent African and Caribbean immigrants consider themselves different (and usually better) than black people who descended from slavery in the US. Their experiences are completely different. The former are likely coming here with some money and education, since it’s very difficult to just walk in. The latter were brought here in chains and forcibly kept from acquiring money and education in any large numbers for centuries. It’s not surprising if the former are more likely to identify with a party that claims allegiance to the American dream and working hard and all that, especially if they don’t view their race to be an issue.

Of course, the skinhead branch of the GOP doesn’t really see the difference between Island Black and American Black, and it’s quite clear the GOP is no longer, if it ever was, the party of opportunity for the working man.

To their credit, the GOP is really good at picking diverse people to represent them. Anyone can do the dirty work of the oligarchs these days. That’s progress I guess.

What a bunch of sanctimonious, clueless aholes.

Think about what you're saying here?
So are the 94% of blacks who vote Democrat also sanctimonious, clueless aholes? Or are they too stupid to recognize and reject arrogant, sanctimonious clueless white aholes?

Or, are YOU the sanctimonious, clueless aholes?

An incredibly well-spoken, reasoned ‘token’ Deserves the job. Glad he’s in. Don’t give a crap what he looks like.

Agreed. Byron Donalds is outstanding.

Aside from that whole fraud thing he pled no contest to

Ahh that conservative white folks are white knighting for Donalds again. You love to see it.

Do you have a citation for the assertion that African and Caribbean immigrants arrive in the U.S. with money (as opposed to making it here by taking advantage of opportunities)? I see a lot of African Americans say this as if it’s some unquestionable truth, but I’ve yet to see any evidence for that.

DP: It'd be interesting to compare the average amount of money brought by black immigrants vs. the average amount of money owned by native blacks.

Yes. It costs thousands of dollars to get legal status in this country. If you don’t have a family hook, you’re playing the lottery or you’re getting here on a skilled visa. The truly poor in the Caribbean can’t afford to leave. That’s been the case for immigration to this country as long as we’ve existed. The notable exceptions are people brought here as temporary or permanent slaves.

That's all very nice but you surely don't mean American Blacks are penniless?

They are so quick to proclaim they're not like the others because they are Republicans and they want a gold star for it because they think differently. It's like, nobody cares, you aren't special.

Also no, black people will.never vote Republican en masse again. Enjoy being a puppet.

The pro-business, small government, foreign interventionist part of the Republican Party isn’t in power anymore. By that standard, white conservatives have also “gotten weird”.

It’s you.

No, it's not. I know lots of Black conservatives. They've all left the R party.

I do too. My father was very active in the DC Black Republican Chapter when I was growing up and my liberal mother was okay with it. He ended up leaving the party after Bush and supported Obama. Sadly he passed away before Obama took office. He would be horrified to see what the Republican Party has become.

The Republican part is aggressively nativist and populist. Depending on your circumstances, they have a message that resonates. That’s the reason that the blue collar union vote is no longer reliably blue. On the flip side, it’s also the reason that republicans are no longer electable in some inner suburbs where they used to dominate

And a big part of it is the old schtick of telling the blue collar guy to look out for the brown guys because the brown guys are trying to steal their donut. When in fact it's the rich Republicans who stole most of the donuts.

You're representing the clueless ahole segment beautifully. This thread was started solely to tear down black conservatives. Post after post of disgusting insults, written by white liberals about black conservatives. YOU are the people who have been calling black conservatives "stupid, tokens, idiots," and more, because they dare to leave the Democratic party. That it has to be explained to you exactly who is the clueless ahole, is so predictable.
