The Last of Us - HBO TV show (With game spoilers)

I found Episode 4 pretty tiresome - the long scenes with Ellie longingly caressing the gun, pretending to shoot it, etc. Ok, we get it!

I also just don't like her very much. She is annoying as hell.

They had to throw out another episode quickly because 4 was so boring?

Haha I was pretty on edge waiting for them to be found the whole time. Of course compared to episode 3, it wasn’t as good but I felt like it moved the plot along. The Kathleen anarchist (?) leader reminds me of the drug dealer lady from Euphoria.

Sadly, I kind of agree.

On the one hand I love that the show is turning the zombie trope a little on its head. It's not like the sense of constant danger in TWD. On the other hand, it's a little slow. I am also nitpickily bothered by some things:

-Joel and Ellie are now in Kansas City. I guess it's possible that they made a trip that would take 21 hours today in less than 48 hours, but...If you're going to throw in a line marking the time as two days later then you're inviting commentary;
-people are eating a lot of canned food. I understand that cans can last beyond the best by date (talk to my kids about it!) but it's been 20 years since the collapse;
-the doctor/prisoner's remark to Kathleen (Melanie Lynskey) that he delivered her. Kathleen is 40 if she's a day. She certainly isn't younger than 20. If that doctor delivering her as a baby before the collapse was going to be a part of the storyline, then fine. But that really doesn't seem to be the case so it's just sloppy.

It doesn't really take away from my enjoyment of the show, but it's noticeable.

Just curious: are you the same poster who parsed "This is Us" to within an inch of its life? Every date, every detail, dissected at length? Please don't do that here. Just enjoy the show.

What is This is Us?

She's a lesbian in the game. I wonder if they'll give her a romantic relationship in the show.

She's a lesbian in the show too. In (I think) the first episode, Joel asked if she had a boyfriend and she's like, "uh no, not one of THOSE!". Or something along those lines when they're asking if anyone will miss her.

It's at an abandoned mall with her girlfriend where she gets the first bite and finds out she's immune.

Yes! it's her sweet voice. her name is Melanie Lynskey, she's married to Jason Ritter. She was also in Candy (that show where Jessica Biel axed her to death). She is only in two episodes of TLOU so they must get past Kansas City in the next episode.

she is in YellowJackets - she's the star of that show, so completely bad-ass. She's also the actress who was in Heavenly Creatures with Kate Winslet back in the 90s when they were still child actors. She is fantastic.

Can you believe she's from New Zealand!?

Yes, I can actually. Non-Americans are usually far better at doing US accents than US actors are at doing non-US accents.

But Bella Ramsey/Ellie has a terrible US accent. Pedro Pascal has a great US accent.

He is American, so maybe that’s why.

what? He's from Chile.

Born in Chile. He and his family left when he was a baby and he was raised in CA and San Antonio, TX.

Yes born in Chile so it would be understandable that he MAY not have a natural American accent

But he has a natural American accent. That was the whole point!

But no one would know unless they heard him speak as himself! I haven't seen an interview with him. Seeing that he's from Chile would make someone assume he doesn't speak with an American accent, jeez you are so dumb.

He’s from the US. Given that you’re incorrectly making assumptions based off of false facts, you may reconsider calling other people dumb.

He was born in Chile! lol you all crack me up.

I was born in New York and lived there for the first year of my life. Then, my family moved and I grew up in Maryland. Went to ES, MS, and HS there. Have a MD drivers license. Have lived in MD for 40+ years now. I say I’m from MD, not NY.

I thought Ellie was born during the apocalypse. In the show she hadn't been in a car before.

She was, that's why the shopping mall was abandoned.
