Ugh, you do realize women serve honorably and with valor currently - to include frontline combat positions in the next war?

NP, and sure. But from a selfish perspective, I'd rather my daughter not be compelled. If she chooses to serve, great.

I'd rather my son not be compelled either. I'd go in his place any day. But fair is fair. As long as we have the possibility of the draft in this country, it should be equal for men and women.

Nah. Women are not treated as equal in this country. Until they are you. A take your equivalency for the military and stuff it.

In what way are women not treated as equal?

Pay, bodily autonomy for starters.

I know you think you're being cute, as well as deliberately obtuse on this issue, but the ways are many. From having their medical choices dictated, to being paid less, to being objectified and having their sexual assault claims disbelieved (and allegations taken seriously- look at the rape kit backlog in this country), to not having medical problems being given the same attention . . . . and the list goes on and on and on. And frankly, the women I know who serve in the military (and love it for various reasons) would agree that the views towards women in it, which MUCH better than decades ago, still has a long way to go.

Women are not paid less for doing the same job. Women on the whole... work more part-time jobs, work in safer and lower paid fields, and take more time off for child-rearing. These are all choices that result in being paid "less." The studies that claim that women are all paid "X cents on the dollar" are calculated by taking all of the money earned by women and dividing by the number of women in the workforce and the same for men. That is just dumb.

They literally are.

To add, and get on any social media platform and you'll see the ingrained misogyny in this country and women are viewed and talked about.

Why do you disrespect other women who disagree with you? (I also think it is funny that somehow you attribute this to the United States. You do know that all countries in Europe place gestational limits on abortion? They are typically between 12-14 weeks, and none later than 24 weeks. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abortion_in_Europe#:~:text=In%20most%20European%20countries%2C%20abortion,abortion%20later%20in%20the%20pregnancy

But Europe is SO enlightened... unlike the U.S.

Calling out misogyny is not “disrespecting women who disagree with you.” Nice try. I also did not mention an enlightened Europe.

It derives from the "why won't you tolerate my intolerance" trope that right wingers ask in bad faith, thinking it's some sort of gotcha.

WTF are you talking about? How are women not equal to men under the law?

We don't have the right to choose medical procedures our doctors deem necessary; can you name a procedure men need to save their lives that they can't get because men created a law to stop that procedure?

Sorry but bull crap. Women created that law too. As much as I agree that men have definitely drafted and passed majority of the laws in this country, including the selective service one, women are just as much to blame for the recent Dobbs decision as men. Women have as much voting power in this country as men do. Vote them out and abortion will be legal everywhere again. I see so many women crying murder when it comes to this issue and voting to have the rights stripped away from them.

Anything else? I said women are equal under the law and they are. They need to serve in case of a draft. Period.

Voters are not responsible for Dobbs. Voters have selected the Democratic candidate for president in 7 of the last 8 elections, but the candidate who lost the popular vote went on to win the electoral college vote in 2000 and 2016. Voters selected Al Gore to be appointing SC justices, but we got George W. Bush’s first term instead, and he appointed Justice Alito during that term. Voters selected Hillary Clinton in 2016, but we got Donald Trump instead, and he appointed Justices Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Coney Barret. Four of the current 9 SC justices were appointed against the will of the people. Those same 4 are 4/5 of the justices who signed on for the Dobbs decision. Dobbs does not represent the will of the people at all. That’s why there was no red wave in the recent midterms.

Don’t you dare blame Dobbs on women or voters in general. Place the blame squarely where it belongs: extreme right wingers.

Dobbs put the abortion decision right back where it always was, in the states where you can vote. Unfortunately, I live in Maryland, which allows unlimited abortion, but if I want to, I can move or I can advocate publicly for new laws. You have the same opportunity.

You also need to spend some time studying civics. On what planet did Hilary Clinton win the 2016 election?

I think the PP is talking about how she won the popular vote by a really large margin for someone who didn't end up being "elected" by the antiquated electoral college. If you read her post and have a brain, you can see that.
