NP here. The poster is pretty clear. |
NP here. Yes, MPD should or it will lose its tax base because the "pearl clutchers" will leave. And I don't know what's not dangerous about attempted murder (gunshot), stabbing, assault, armed carjacking, etc. Beyond that, having a reduced crime rate would ease the strain on MPD. People moved to Ward 3 because it's a safe place to live. If it can't live up to that, people will leave. |
This is fairly terrifying. Keep financial services apps on your phone at your peril. |
This is outright dishonesty. No one who wants more resources committed to fighting crime in Ward 3 wants fewer resources for fighting crime in Ward 7 and 8. We know clearly who are the people who are against resources going to Wards 7 and 8 - defund the police folk who have consistently argued that those Wards are overpoliced and "targeted." The ACLU just came out to oppose an expansion of the camera program where 42% of the cameras were in Wards 7 and 8. These were the same arguments that shut-down the efforts to prosecute gun violations federally, and the same arguments the Council used when it made the effort to cut police funding in 2020. This is the completely dishonest two-step defund types do. Say we need fewer enforcement resources going to Wards 7 and 8 because focusing them is racist targeting. Then turn around and say we need to take resources away from Ward 3 because it's unfair that 7 and 8 don't have more enforcement resources going to them. |
It starts with the ANCs and works it ay up to the Councilman. These are policy choices. Neighbors, we don’t have to continue to live in fear if we elect some reasonable people. In the next ANC election don’t forget the ANC 3C (Cleveland Park) was at the forefront of the defund the police movement. https://anc3c.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/ANC3C-Resolution-2021-012-in-Support-of-Proposals-by-DC-Police-Reform-Commission-Report-1.pdf |
Cannot be overstated that you’re getting exactly why you voted for. Uncontrolled crime is apparently what people want in DC. |
The resolution is signed by Beau Finley, who ran unsuccessfully against Frumin in the DC Council primary. Finley claimed to be a progressive but had a Trumper as his campaign spokesman. |
The residents of Cleveland Park should ask the Commission to renounce this misguided Resolution. It sure didn’t age well. |
Days after Pinto's Emergency Bill passed they hosted DC Justice Lab at a meeting. |
Don't worry, a Cleveland Park ANC reps says everything is fine now because it used to be worse:
https://x.com/niawag1/status/1724107152241865133?t=XlGZeH-9NGxQjsZHbK4EiQ&s=09 I was out in his district on Saturday night and it was a ghost town except for people asking for money. All the bars and restaurants were mostly empty in what used to be a lively strip. |
Well he, and the rest of the ANC, should explain to the many people who worship in ANC 3C which exact policies of BLM they “affirm.” Stunning. |
This is so unacceptable. Also, he claims on his Twitter/X that people were getting shot in his alley and on his street 20 years ago. Doesn't he represent a very exclusive enclave in Woodley Park? It doesn't sound even remotely believable. |
In his profile picture he’s wearing a bike helmet, which explains all I need to know about him and the credibility of what he says. |
What an ass. We are significantly wors than not only 10 years ago, but 5 years ago. What does 30 years ago have to do with anything today? Especially when we have more murders this year than in 1997! |
No doubt they will blame it, not on crime, but on not enough urban vibrancy and density! |
