So MPD should overcommit resources even more to the neurotic pearl clutchers of upper NW dc rather than to the areas that are actually dangerous and have lots and lots of crime because someone's grandma happened to be in a cvs when some people shoplifter or they read about an argument between two people that turned violent in an apartment complex they don't live in on their local listserv?
This is outright dishonesty. No one who wants more resources committed to fighting crime in Ward 3 wants fewer resources for fighting crime in Ward 7 and 8. We know clearly who are the people who are against resources going to Wards 7 and 8 - defund the police folk who have consistently argued that those Wards are overpoliced and "targeted." The ACLU just came out to oppose an expansion of the camera program where 42% of the cameras were in Wards 7 and 8. These were the same arguments that shut-down the efforts to prosecute gun violations federally, and the same arguments the Council used when it made the effort to cut police funding in 2020. This is the completely dishonest two-step defund types do. Say we need fewer enforcement resources going to Wards 7 and 8 because focusing them is racist targeting. Then turn around and say we need to take resources away from Ward 3 because it's unfair that 7 and 8 don't have more enforcement resources going to them.
It starts with the ANCs and works it ay up to the Councilman. These are policy choices. Neighbors, we don’t have to continue to live in fear if we elect some reasonable people. In the next ANC election don’t forget the ANC 3C (Cleveland Park) was at the forefront of the defund the police movement. https://anc3c.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/ANC3C-Resolution-2021-012-in-Support-of-Proposals-by-DC-Police-Reform-Commission-Report-1.pdf
Cannot be overstated that you’re getting exactly why you voted for. Uncontrolled crime is apparently what people want in DC.
