This all day. It’s such an embarrassing but expected reaction from anxiety-ridden women who are scared that they’re potential members of a first wives club.

I mean, maybe. But this reaction presumes that all women want to be married to a rich guy, that their response is the result of anxiety and jealousy, rather than just "Ew. Well, at least they deserve each other."

If he'd left his marriage for a real hottie, I'd understand that (file under "man thinks with dick"). If he'd left Mackenzie for someone who seems a lot like her, I'd understand that (file under "relationships can be good but run their course"). But throwing everything away for someone who's doesn't seem to be smart or devoted or even all that attractive within the category of "50-somethings who've had a lot of work done" is baffling.

My FIL dated a woman for years, she was a good person but not that good looking and had a lot of mental health issues, but she worshipped the ground he walked on. And that was apparently what he needed.

I think so too and I'm a white woman, still married, first marriage for both of us, and kids only with each other. A lot of DCUM women identify with white, homely, nerdy McKenzie. They insist that men are driven wild by degrees and job titles - which they just happen to possess! Then a wealthy man comes along and picks the hot Latina lacking in the "right" education who uses her feminine charms over the wife (who looks just like they do!) and they sob that they can't understand why men don't want what they think men should want.

It has only a little to do with how she looks. It’s important that it’s clear she’s made an effort to look her best for him, but that’s enough. Everything else is about how she makes him feel. The praise. The thank yous. The touches. The eyelash batting. The long gazed into his eyes. Men are honestly very easy to please. The problem is that beautiful women are used to being worshiped, not doing the worshiping. A woman who can flip that script can have any man she wants. I would argue it went poorly for my mother because despite the divorce settlements, she’s still multiply divorced. That said her 4th husband didn’t mind. As for me, I use the same tricks for good and have a blissfully happy 11 year long marriage.

If I had to guess, I’d say McKenzie, an Amazon cofounder and billionaire in her own right, had no interest in playing the game. It has very little to do with how either woman looks, and everything to do with how much each woman was willing to give him what all men want.
