I am sure the Beckham life was very controlled. Both David and Victoria are pretty disciplined people given their careers and they have had to manage press very tightly due to their fame and to protect their family.

Brooklyn is an immature man who hasn’t had much responsibility and this feels like a rebellious teen raging against the constraints of parents who had high expectations and ran a tight ship. But rather than becoming his own independent person he just became Nicola’s wife. She seems very similar in personality to his parents- not uncommon to choose someone who is familiar but different. Her family also seems pretty rigid and controlled. He thinks he is making his own decisions but I don’t think he is. It's funny you say David and Victoria have high expectations - they have three sons who've graduated from HS but not gone to college. None of them need to have a job. The only high expectation I've ever heard the parents have is that their kids have very good manners. The sons all have a ton of tattoos, so it seems the only "tight ship" the parents may have beyond manners is that the kids show up to events for photo ops. Seems like a pretty cushy life to me!

True, and a lot of the stuff Brooklyn posted about makes the Beckhams sounds pretty creepy. His parents pressuring him to sign away his name before the wedding, whatever that means. And that Victoria Beckham tried to have an inappropriate mother-son dance with him at their wedding that left Nicola upset. Looked it up in one of the articles on People Magazine, and basically it says that at the wedding Marc Anthony (celebrity guest wedding singer) went up to the mike and asked the most beautiful woman to come up and dance with Brooklyn Beckham and announced Victoria Beckham's name--which left the guests speechless and horrified. If true, that's hella creepy mother in law behavior.

This honestly seems like a nothingburger that got blown up by a crazy bride.

More like it sounds like two very controlling and demanding women with Victoria not being able to accept she isn't the priority anymore. If Brooklyn was uncomfortable then it shouldn't have happened.

Nothing about this makes any sense (although I haven't really done any deep dives about this). Brooklyn claims his parents have been "controlling the narrative" but all of the stories I remember hearing have been negative re Posh and David (Posh wouldn't do the wedding dress, the parents are too controlling, the parents do this, the parents do that). Why would Posh and David leak stories to the press or control a narrative that 100% of the time paints them in a negative light? I don't get it. That makes zero sense.

Victoria was never really known for sexy dancing, even when with the Spice Girls. Since the SG, she has worked hard to escape the “chav” reputation - removed the fake boobs and reinvented herself as a serious designer so I would be surprised if she did anything outrageous.


I can understand BB’s POV that under his parents, he felt stress and anxiety. They both have had really successful careers. The pressure to make something of himself must be awful.

I guess Nicola/her family are happy with him just cruising through life somewhat rudderless, so I can see why his new life may be better for his mental health.

First of all the whole "dogs are more important than people" thing the privileged fall into.
Secondly, I would never dare to order my mother in law to do charity work with me. And if I did, I certainly don't think of it as a command performance. Clearly both people have boundary issues.
Thirdly, I would never even want my mother in law to design my wedding dress. Just no.
