I am sure the Beckham life was very controlled. Both David and Victoria are pretty disciplined people given their careers and they have had to manage press very tightly due to their fame and to protect their family.

Brooklyn is an immature man who hasn’t had much responsibility and this feels like a rebellious teen raging against the constraints of parents who had high expectations and ran a tight ship. But rather than becoming his own independent person he just became Nicola’s wife. She seems very similar in personality to his parents- not uncommon to choose someone who is familiar but different. Her family also seems pretty rigid and controlled. He thinks he is making his own decisions but I don’t think he is. He is a weak rudderless man caught between strong women who like to run the show and manage the narrative.

It's funny you say David and Victoria have high expectations - they have three sons who've graduated from HS but not gone to college. None of them need to have a job. The only high expectation I've ever heard the parents have is that their kids have very good manners. The sons all have a ton of tattoos, so it seems the only "tight ship" the parents may have beyond manners is that the kids show up to events for photo ops. Seems like a pretty cushy life to me!

True, and a lot of the stuff Brooklyn posted about makes the Beckhams sounds pretty creepy. His parents pressuring him to sign away his name before the wedding, whatever that means. And that Victoria Beckham tried to have an inappropriate mother-son dance with him at their wedding that left Nicola upset. Looked it up in one of the articles on People Magazine, and basically it says that at the wedding Marc Anthony (celebrity guest wedding singer) went up to the mike and asked the most beautiful woman to come up and dance with Brooklyn Beckham and announced Victoria Beckham's name--which left the guests speechless and horrified. If true, that's hella creepy mother in law behavior.

This honestly seems like a nothingburger that got blown up by a crazy bride.

More like it sounds like two very controlling and demanding women with Victoria not being able to accept she isn't the priority anymore. If Brooklyn was uncomfortable then it shouldn't have happened.

lol. Sure sure his mom tried to grind against her son during the first dance, and his poor darling wife is a saint!! Very credible.

+1

I understand he wants no contact with his family but his comments about the wedding dance make his mom sound slightly incestual or sexually inappropriate with her son. If that had actually happened we would have read about the dance in the news. It was more about how Marc Anthony called her thr most beautiful woman in the room. Which is a rude comment at a wedding to not be referring to the bride but Marc said it, not Victoria.

My thought too. Maybe it was a language issue and he meant to say something else, maybe he just had a lapse in judgment. Because you definitely don’t say anyone other than the bride is the most beautiful in the room!

Seems like they are transferring their anger toward Marc Anthony onto Posh.

Bless his heart. I love how he ends his little Instagram screed with a statement that he and his wife just want privacy.

having heard him talk on clips of his 'cooking' show, I am pretty sure none of this came from him. All the specific details of Nicola feeling scorned 4 years ago - that came from a woman! Her family went on their honeymoon with them...

So much of it wrapped around wedding stuff. Definitely sounds like it came from a woman.

It's like Harry making a big deal in his book about Kate Middleton not sharing her lip gloss with Meghan.

I don't share my lip gloss with anyone - that's one of the ways you spread oral herpes.

Right! I never understood why people attacked Kate for that. I never share lip products either.

Kate is a princess. I think she has a spare lipgloss at her disposal and could help her SIL out in a pinch.

And if I remember correctly Meghan squeezed the lipgloss onto her finger and applied-no direct contact in that case if she didn’t touch the tube

Meghan is a grown-up who can handle her own makeup. To hell with that. Pig.

Brooklyn was grown enough to marry. He fumbled all of this quite poorly.

Following Brooklyn Beckham’s lengthy statement about his parents David Beckham and Victoria Beckham—in which he alleges the pair have continuously tried to “ruin” his and wife Nicola Peltz Beckham’s relationship, amid other allegations—David’s former assistant shared her reaction to his words.

“So happy he is standing up for himself and speaking publicly finally,” Rebecca wrote in the comment section of a recent Instagram post in response to a user who brought up Brooklyn’s statement. “I have felt so bad for his poor wife, knowing too well what they can be like!”

You mean the one who had an affair with David? And now she feels bad for his poor wife? Trash attracts trash.

If a bride came to DCUM and posted the normal person equivalent, the MIL would be skewered for 25 pages.

Sounds like everyone involved is petty and are drama queens.

But I’m here for it!

Nicola Peltz is young, beautiful and obviously rich. Why did she settle for this clown? Her mother married well, she should’ve taken tips from her.

I want to be into this story but it seems like they're probably all bad.

No. If you read the quote she feels sorry for Brooklyn's "poor wife," not Posh...

Rich people problems.

I don't blame Brooklyn, though. How often do you think that he was the center of attention in his own home growing up? I'm going to guess never. Time for him to live his own life, wherever that takes him.

This. They all seem awful. If Brooklyn were younger, I'd have more sympathy for him as someone raised in this BS, but he's old enough to do better plus Nicola truly does just seem like a younger version of his mom -- self-obsessed and petty as hell. Every one of these people is an adult and yet they behave like ill-parented children. No thank you to all of them.

Because wealth isn't enough for these vapid young people. They want celebrity more than anything. Did anything know who she was before she married into the Beckham family? Right.

Look I'm perfectly prepared to believe the Beckham parents are narcissistic and image-obsessed, and that Victoria could not stand to be displaced by a young woman her eldest son is besotted with. But the press seems to be coming entirely from the kids, with Brooklyn parroting his wife's concerns. I guess that's what happens when you raise a weak trustfund kid with no mind of his own. Don't be surprised when the weakness of mind is manipulated by another person against you. They're probably all a-holes but I'm inclined to think Nicola is the worst of them.
