What movie do you love which would never be made today?

Really, why?

It blows my mind that anyone would think Ben Kingsley is a WASP.

Agreed. Same with Can’t By Me Love.

I may be dating myself but the Porky's movies were classic. Those could never be made today!

It's totally cheesy but I just love Shining Through. It's a romantic drama with Melanie Griffith, Michael Douglas, Joely Richardson, Liam Neeson and Sir John Gielgud. It's totally something that you would never see as a movie nowadays but maybe on cable. But you know what, these people can act and it's directed by David Selzer and it takes me out of my reality and it's just plain fun.

I also really like Spygames with a very hot young Brad Pitt and Robert Redford. Again, fun. But people just don't watch stuff you have to listen to dialogue to follow

I also think that these days, these fun, small productions are too lightweight. Everything has to be mega in scale, heavy drama serious or stupid weird and crazy. Nothing can be straightforward, small and humble. Ghostdog with Forrest Whitaker is another small movie I think is so well done.

I watch a lot of older movies because honestly - I'm looking for some entertainment. I don't want to mega sequels sometimes. I don't want the heavy serious stories.

Some of the things Harry says are not very PC/PG. I was rewatching it with a sensitive friend and she had to walk out!

We just saw blazing saddles again. Thankfully on streaming.

If it has been on network, it would have been 7 minutes long.

It’s been awhile since I saw Mrs. Doubtfire. I remember little about the film. That said, the musical version of the movie was recently performed on Broadway and shut down only this summer. So, it hasn’t been totally cancelled.

Heathers was also made into a musical and a FCPS high school performed it shortly before the pandemic. Adult themes, yes, but relevant.

The craft and that scene with the blonde girl saying she found a nappy public hair. They'd probably cast a darker skin girl today.
Me myself and Irene, heavyweights the movie about fat people still hilarious though. Mrs. Doubtfire. God I hate woke Ness.

Do you people realize that even E.T. Was declared unPC and was re-edited for several reasons ? They wouldn’t make it again today even due to just the drunkness scene

Silence of the Lambs would not be made today
