I'm sorry, but you are really out of touch if this is what you actually believe. VT has been the top in-state destination for many of our high school's most accomplished students for some time now. And not necessarily for engineering.

How do you know who is very top? How do you know colleges agree with your assessment of who is very top?

Honestly, my experience isn’t current. But in the past local newspapers and the Washington Post would publish lists of the many, many valedictorians from area high schools and the colleges they chose. You wouldn’t see a lot of Techs listed. Admittedly unscientific, but no doubt the case.

And c’mon, we all know that in the DMV the top students aren’t gunning for Tech, and in NOVA in particular the Golden Ticket has long been UVA.

DP. The relevant words have been bolded for you. You are seriously out of touch. And FCPS high schools do not have valedictorians. UVA is not considered a "golden ticket" in any way among my kid and his peers. Sorry. Now, back to the subject, which is NOT UVA.

$29266 (2022-23)
$32366 (2023-24)

what a bargain

Compared to my SLAC at $90k, it is!

Not bad, but NC State costs thousands less for in-state residents.

What on earth does that have to do with this thread?

Just to put the assertion that VT is such a "bargain" in perspective.

It’s not now and never has been the number one choice for NOVA high school grads. It just isn’t.

And anticipating your response - “how can you possibly KNOW that!” - my answer is “just as easily as you can claim to know the opposite.”

Agree that VT is the #1 in-state destination for a chunk of very top students. It's a great school! But the SCHEV profile of entering class students shows the average stats for VT freshmen is not comparable to UVA or W&M.

We’re not talking about your kid and his peers in particular. We’re talking more generally. And the numbers speak for themselves.

DP. Well, I can claim that it is based on who goes from our highly ranked FCPS school. You really do seem incredibly out of touch.

Lol. I never said it wasn’t. It’s clearly not THE top choice for top NOVA students. THE top choice is UVA.

Lol. Wrong. UVA clearly isn’t THE top choice for top NOVA students. UVA is a top choice, just like VT. Sorry that’s hard for you.

Because YOU say so?

I’d bet high school guidance counselors would disagree.

Prove me wrong.

Lol when a UVA poster said the same thing earlier you said it’s imposible to know that and called her a stalker. What’s good for the goose . . .

To quote an earlier poster:

I always get a good laugh from parents who assume they know what other students' GPAs, test scores, accomplishments, etc. are. They have no clue about any student other than their own.

Correct. So the UVA boosters have no basis for their claims.

You’re talking to different posters. Did you know that’s what “DP” means? At any rate, trust the UVA dolts to once again infiltrate a thread that’s about a different school. Reporting the UVA trolls.
