So many atrocities have been committed using exactly this presumptuous, tortuous reasoning. You even included the "that type" Give it a rest. |

If anything, DC should get rid of the mask mandates and ramp up the vaccine mandates. I just experienced this in Switzerland and their vax passport system works really, really well for increasing vaccination rates.
If you know anything about Switzerland, they are probably more anti-centralized government than the US. |
Who is "sacrificing anyone?" Nobody is being sacrificed. I'm vaccinated and boosted, and I know vaccination must be the choice of the individual. I am not concerned the unvaccinated will sacrifice either my parents or my kids or nieces and nephews. Because people aren't being sacrificed. That isn't happening. |
This is false. I’m Swiss, grew up there, while family lives there, visit twice a year. The vaxx passport has been highly controversial, causing massive demonstrations and general discontent. The Bundesrat (Executive) is expected to revoke the passports this Wednesday. |
That is certainly not the case with the unvaccinated population of DC. Get out of your bubble. |
| The funny thing about everyone saying we need vaxx mandates and to make unvaxxed people's lives terrible are the same ones enabling drug addicts in SF and DC by making it easier for them to live in the throes of addiction. For them they don't want any kind of forced rehabs or policies with sticks despite the societal costs. Only when it comes to team blue virtue signaling are they for mandates and societal pressure. |
Me too. Mandates are coercive and abhorrent to me. |
+1, it's segregation plain and simple. It's funny that you have to be vaccinated to eat at McDonalds in the name of "health." |
Thank you to you both. You are good people |
I am interested in pushing the Mayor on this, but how? I’m so sick of this bio safety theater. |
Well, you might try starting a bunch of troll posts on DCUM and then responding to yourself repeatedly to make it look like more people agree with you than actually do. That might show her. |
All the European vaccine passports have been controversial, with criticism from the right and the left. Americans tend to romanticize Europe on these issues. I do think Europe as a whole has struck a better balance around Covid than we have, but that is largely owing to healthcare infrastructure that I think has enabled them to keep the pandemic from being political along right/left lines. But mandates are controversial everywhere. If anything, Europeans are more sensitive to what feels like coercive government action than Americans, having experienced relatively recent examples of government overreach with terrible results. |
Check with Jeff if you think people are sockpuppeting. I think you are just bummed DCUM isn't the usual echo chamber. Your neighbors might not think exactly the same as you do, and that is actually a good thing. Reasonable people can disagree. |

Fine if the numbers stay low.
But if the numbers shoot back up and safety measures aren't put back in place, all of you rabid anti-maskers can go straight to hell. |
It’s not segregation in any way. If people don’t want to be limited in whatever way the mandates limit them, they have a very easy solution: get the free, safe, effective vaccine. Was there a similar option available to the people being discriminated against under actual segregation? |
