Unfortunately it's proving to be life in blue America. We keep kids masked to pacify the neuroses of the adults, and so we don't look like those murderous red states. |
Yeah it's absolutely insane. I don't blame Bowser though, she's already getting backlash from the vocal covid deranged who will make sure we'll be living under these restrictions for years if one of her opponents wins. |
Nah. At some point "F around find out" will come into play on the intersection of these deranged policies and Home Rule. |
The covid hysterics really really really can't pull back and see a bigger picture, one that might eventually hurt them. |
How is it common sense when vaxed still spread Covid? It also creates segregation and forces businesses to discriminate based on medical information. Many vaxed people are also against the mandates and stupid passports.
|
And many others drove to VA to be able to eat indoors, so, I suppose highways getting busier with unnecessary dining traffic is the only "advantage"
Also DC relies on tourism and has lots of foreign visitors, not all are vaxed or have CDC approved vaccines available to them in their countries. Tourists don't want to deal with vax passports either |
There will always be people from the suburbs who get tired of Applebees and drive into the city for dinner, mandate or not. |
They hate the mandates even more than you do A lot of them are forced to take boosters after being fully vaxed and then recovering from Covid.
|
NOVA burbs are not the land of Applebees... but whatever. People will always drive to dine or go out, but at least they would do this for other reasons than having to be denied entry like some dirty untouchables low caste citizens. This policy has not helped the cities that implemented them one bit. NYC was swamped with Covid despite all the mandates that they have even on little kids. It was idiotic to implement them in DC in mid Jan in the first place. It did nothing but cause extra work and lost revenue for local restaurants and hotels. |
| Well now maybe I’ll eat at my fav DC restaurant again. I was in NYC for work and most places didn’t get for a vaccine card despite having the same idiotic requirement in place. I don’t think some of you eat out since how a busy coffee shop would enforce this makes zero sense. |
Sounds about right. Just like in deep blue California where the kids are all masked at school, but the celebrities (and the governor!) can run around massless all day, every day. |
+100! And healthy, unvaccinated nurses couldn't come in to work during the Omicron surge, while COVID-positive, vaccinated nurses could continue working with patients. Madness. Funny that you mention segregation, since there was a discussion of how the mandates are not segregation a few pages ago .

This is very simple. DC is turning into a wasteland. She lifted it for one reason: Tourism. Cherry Blossoms and summer is coming up and nobody wants to travel here.
On he mask - simple - she has a 4 year and wants her and her classmates in masks so I have been told. |
Yup. Wasteland - but I love it! |
It is pure insanity. And now DC healthcare workers need to get a booster by March 1. Every single health care worker. Regardless of age. Regardless of whether they already had COVID. https://coronavirus.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/coronavirus/page_content/attachments/NOEPR-Boosters-02-08-2022.pdf Guess DC has a surplus of healthcare workers, because I am certain some healthcare workers will choose to leave their DC jobs over this. Especially in the current market where there are positions easily available in VA or MD. |
