Maybe Jared Polis for the Democrats and Joe Lombardo for the Republicans, if someone born in Japan on a U.S. military base is eligible to run for president.

I don’t think that Trump or his voters are that conservative. About half of his voters like him mainly because he knows how to convey the impression that he’s down to earth and candid about what matters. Lombardo is actually candid and down-to-earth, and he can make the case that he’s been tough on crime, as sheriff, in a non-crazy way.

Most other Republican governors come off as fake or flaky, and they’ll filter out in the debates.

The reality is that it is almost certain Joe Biden will be the nominee. And if he doesn’t run for health reasons, Kamala Harris is guaranteed to get the nomination. I wouldn’t waste any time or energy fantasizing about someone else.

Exactly. If Biden runs, which he says he's doing, no one is going to even challenge him.

Then he'll lose.

We be already watched the Biden vs Trump movie. We know who loses and it is not Biden.

If you take Trump out of the equation then I think Haley has a good shot. People love DeSantis for his whole flamethrower schtick, but DeSantis hasn't had to "perform" on a national stage yet. His press is pretty tightly controlled. Remains to be seen if he can have the same success if he has to face national press.

I think Haley is auditioning for the VP slot.

Haley could be a great VP candidate (certainly better than Harris), but Logan and DeSantis have much more substance and solid track record. Both have performed well during difficult times in swing/ moderate states.

I don't see Hogan as a running mate with Trump unless he totally sells out. I don't agree that DeSantis has more substance or track record over Haley.

Why in the world would either Trump OR Hogan want Hogan to run as Trump's VP. What would be in it for either of them?

If Trump runs, it'll be Haley, MTG, someone like that.

This just shows what a threat Trump is to establishment elites.

Which means the GOP will be fractured.

Trump won't go quietly.

Establishment elites might be tired of losing? Just a thought.

Pence is hanging his campaign on this plan:

No one want to hear Mike Pence of all people talk about 'being straight with the American people".

Where was he when Trump was trashing the place?

Wasn’t he hiding because they were threatening him?

DP. Definitely. I think there's also a recognition that Trump is a loose cannon and a nut. Fox News may spew its right wing BS about Joe Biden and the Chinese balloon all day long, but at the end of the day the establishment elites were relieved Biden was handling that and not Trump. They don't have to worry about it with any of the 2024 contenders except for Trump.

I mean - you think the establishment is enjoying watching DeSantis behave like a maniac with Disney? Do you think it fills them with peace and calm, seeing him toy with the state's most important employer and tourism draw, and knowing he'd do the same to them if they breathed funny near him?

They are the balloon in this scenario.

Where was he when Trump was trashing the place?

Whatever he did or didn’t do, a big chunk of the GOP doesn’t like him anymore.
