Where did I say we needed to stop all filming? I didn't. I said that it's wrong to dismiss filming of unwilling participants as OK. Not the same thing. Yes, it's legal; that does not make it any less invasive, creepy and inappropriate. Many actions which are invasive, creepy and inappropriate are still technically not breaking the law. Or is that just "hysterics"?

"It's legal" is a VERY low bar for behavior. You're fine with shrugging and saying nothing because "it's legal"? The barista was right to intervene and the young woman was right to be creeped out. The police could have done nothing because it's legal, of course, but that does not mean that people being filmed or those who know the situation is clearly skeevy should just stand there and say, oh well, it's legal, so I won't say a thing. Sure, I agree that filming the pervs is a good idea, but an upset person who feels threatened in the moment might not think of that.

Comparing this situation to the filming of "those horribly behaved racist people" (you mean the Capitol rioter idiots) is nuts. If you can't see the difference between pervs filming a woman in a Starbucks and people filming the obviously public events of a mass riot -- you really don't know how to think subtly.

I have no doubt trafficking goes on here but if cops are complicit you need to point us to some objective account of that or you need to stop spreading rumors. Yes, this kind of thing has gone on forever; however, the internet and phones now make it infinitely easier to spread images around.
