+1 Assuming you didn’t start with a low charge (or low fuel tank) you’d be fine. No worse than gas car. I think they can go days to just heat the cabin. |

It sure did impact RIC to DC. I had to take in two friends who had gotten stuck on a North East Regional that left Richmond at 8am Monday and didn’t make it to Union Station until 6am Tuesday. The crew abandoned the train at Quantico but none of the passengers could get off because it was a military base. When they got in at Union Station Tuesday morning the rest of the route was cancelled and everyone off loaded. It wasn’t clear to my friends if the problem was snow or trees but the ran out of food and water in the dining car, toilet paper in the bathrooms and very little info was given out. My friends are trying to get to CT and we are hoping they can get a train out of here this afternoon. |

| I'm so glad we had no reason to be driving in that mess. That said - that stretch of highway is always terrible with traffic. I hope this possible gives it some attention and maybe they can do something for the better? Although I am not sure what would alleviate the traffic that's always there. |

+1 My nephew is finally on a train to Savannah after days of delays and cancellations and Amtrak is short-staffed with no information. |

Hindsight being 20/20 I suppose they could have run multi track, subsidized express rail/metro rail right up the middle of 95, branching off at 495 into Tysons, and Crystal City (with commuter lots at termination points in the burbs), instead of hot lanes, and the Silver line to Dulles??? I have that thought about a lot of the clogged straight shot highways around here, like 66. I think we would all be in much better shape if there was a willingness and demand for cheaper/faster alternatives to sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic. We are talking about 15 to 20-mile commutes that take over an hour by car because there is no faster/cheaper or even comparable alternative. |

C'mon, it was an unusually heavy snowfall for couple of hours, with relatively mild, a few degrees below freezing temperatures. The sh*show aftermath really shouldn't be. |

Make sure he has food. Amtrak runs out of food all the time. Bring a few packs of freeze dried food or ramen. You can usually get hot water. |

That section of 95 is way over it’s design capacity. It is almost always red on the traffic apps. Just one area near Occoquan is responsible for 1.2 million hours a year of delays. One accident will add 45 minutes delays. A snowstorm will cause a lot more accidents and traffic becomes stop and go. As the temperature dropped the road froze causing more accident and cars lost their traction. A lot of people come on here and say oh in North Dakota we can drive in the snow. There are like 5 people on the road. Put 40,000 cars and trucks on the road and see what happens. |

Nobody fought Biden on real infrastructure improvements. It was Biden conflating infrastructure with daycare that caused all the problems. |
