Should we prepare for virtual schooling starting in January?

The health department shut PG schools down. Their vaccination rates are lower than Montgomery county. We can hang in there for now.

It’s a travesty they shut down PG County.

Yeah, MCPS parents are batsh*t insane and incredibly entitled jerks.

DD did fine with DL, but DS… he’s learned so much more this year already than last year. His anxiety is much better. I know I’m going to get bashed and told I’m an awful, uninvolved parent that DS didn’t excel at virtual learning. I am involved, but it just didn’t work for him.

Its not going to happen so nothing to worry about.

After the first kid dies, and it's on the news - they'll change their tune.

Been waiting for that since March 2020 and yet kids are not severely affected by it

And when MCPS students had the option to go in-person in March 2021, DCUM was filled with "BUT SO MANY PEOPLE WILL DIE BECAUSE OF THIS!!!111"

When school started in August, DCUM was filled with "BUT SO MANY PEOPLE WILL DIE BECAUSE OF THIS!!!111"

They can't help themselves.

This. Meanwhile a hell of a lot of people are going on vacations, doing all their normal activities. There's no reining it in at this point. So there is no point closing schools either. The kids who would have been in school, masked, will just be getting together outside of school with no masks, and catching covid anyway.

And as for spread to parents and elders, look, they're all vaxxed and boosted or could be. And that should make the disease far less severe. It's not perfect but nothing is.

I'm not trying to be sarcastic. If schools won't open, the hubs (both free and fee-based) better be.

Of course they will.

That’s what happened last year. Taxpayers money went to Montgomery County funding private providers to offer care for kids in elementary school buildings.

Many kids have long term issues and many deaths. Your kids could survive virtual except you are the problem.

There have not been MANY deaths around her. Put up or shut up.

Exactly. To be even more clear, there have been ZERO deaths of kids age 0-18 in Montgomery County due to Covid since the beginning of this pandemic.

No, it’s the responsible thing to do.

We have been lucky. There have been deaths in the us and around the world. You keep minimizing Covid and justifying your poor behavior. We have you to thank.

We have them to thank. They cannot be responsible.

Do you really think they’ll reopen then? Are you really that naive?

Oh God! <Curls up in fetal position > I cannot. I literally CANNOT! I did virtual teaching and concurrent teaching and almost literally lost my mind. I cannot do this again. I will quit. I will move to a tiny house and eat beans everyday before I go through this again. I can still hear that awful zoom beep.

Exactly why we can't let MCPS close at all.
