Travel to a real state and report back. Here in NY it’s 4.50 and I don’t really care because it’s meaningless to me but it’s ridiculous to pretend gas prices haven’t spiked.

According to this, prices in NY are down.

Thursday night here in SV, it’s nearly $5/gallon. There aren’t many Tesla recharging spots left in the Santana Row parking garage.

Gas prices in the greater DC/MD/DE areas are all about the same as they were all summer.

Yes, it is up from last year, but last year, the economy was basically shut down with a corresponding lack of demand for gas or much of anything else.

On a macro level, things are MUCH better now.

Yep. The national average is 3.25.
Not bad.

Sure. If you are well off, it's not bad.

U.S. regular retail gasoline prices averaged $2.60 per gallon (gal) in 2019, 11 cents/gal (4%) lower than in 2018.

In DC the prices are about the same as they were over the summer. It is a little higher than last year when no one was driving anywhere because there was a pandemic. It is a lot lower than it was at the end of the GHWB administration and is roughly the same as it was for most of the Obama Administration. The fact is, we should be moving away from the internal combustion engine and single occupancy vehicles. They have been disasterous for land use and air quality.

Never forget this:

GDP growth during Donald Trump’s final year in office: -3.5%.

GDP growth during Joe Biden’s first year in office: +5.5%

Remember what Bush 41 and 43 left the democrats to fix.

Why people keep harping on the idea that the GOP is better with the economy is beyond me.

This. Even Ford realizes this. Plus oil prices will naturally increase as supply is eventually used up. It's not a renewable resource.

I just paid 3.25 in Long Island yesterday. I’m sure you can find $4 if you try but most are in the 3.20-50 range.

Republicans think they will win 2022 and 2024 on the economy. That's slipping through their fingers. They will have to go on overdrive to concoct new lies and fearmongering for the 2022 and 2024 elections.

The Republicans are trying to tank the economy with covid.

Exactly. The GOP has NO issue USING their koolaid drinkers to ensure the economy doesn't fully rebound and so they can use COVID as a wedge in the fall elections. Their only problem is that the hospitalization and death rates of the vaccinated pales in comparison to the unvaccinated. So for many anti-vax repiublicans, there will be needless death and potential for longCOVID as a result.

Oh well.

They will project and rationalize and gaslight to make their fellow Republicans believe the impact of their own refusal to mask, socially distance and get vaccinated was the fault of the Dems.

Hello clueless Democrat, lots of Americans don’t actually own any or much stock. So prices at the gas station and in the grocery store matter more.
