Pay the teachers or lose them. Loudoun is offering greener pastures. FCPS needs to make a statement this year or next year families can expect even more vacancies and long term subs than this year |
I live in Loudoun, with no step increase this year, it’s makes more sense financially for me to go back to LCPS. |
Me too. They've had two straight years of step increases and now the salaries have caught/exceeded FCPS. LCPS administrators also had a massive reclassification last year that gave most 25k bumps. |
That’s really an insult to people like me, who worked in the building all 5 days all year last year, except when the building was closed. Stop saying lies. I worked very hard last year and made it possible for school to be open for in person and I worked to accommodate students that were learning from home by gathering materials and supporting testing in person on Mondays. And I did this by choice because it was the right thing to do. I did not even request to be virtual. Do I not deserve my bonus, pp? |
Samesies |
In another district, we got workbooks and they were nice and the teacher never used them - in person or on online. I agree with giving teachers a bonus. |
No kidding. Put her on your “do not respond to her or her kid’s email” list. Lol |
I worked 6 days per week last year. I also spent over $1000 preparing my home for distance learning, so this bonus will help pay back a little of that cost. |
All that effort paid off. Just look at the SOL results for the proof of the extensive teaching/learning that happened last year. |
Ooof. What did you buy? I'm not debating, but I'm curious. I didn't spend anything, but I did go into the building every day. ES Teacher |
I'm not the PP, but I bought a wacom tablet (math teacher) to be able to show steps to solving/graphing/etc, a printer/scanner to be able to create and post answer keys, a couple lamps because the lighting in my spare bedroom was horrible and I was just a darkish figure, and upgraded our internet to be able to accommodate constant video chatting for 6 months. Probably close to $1000 at the end of it all. I could have gone into school but then I would have had to pay for childcare for my 3rd grader which would have been way more than $1000, so I taught from home. |
Thanks for the reply. That makes sense with the daycare situation. That's one thing I didn't have to deal with so I was able to go into the building. I mainly used my laptop, a second monitor, a document camera and the the SmartBoard once students returned. I seldom scanned or printed, but I used the school's machine if I had to do that. |
Haha. There are plenty of open positions if you think you can do better. Oh wait, you don’t want the job, then STFU! |
Ohhh, burn…(not). Everyone knows that virtual isn’t as good as in-person. Not one person expected the results to be the same or better. |
Go to hell. I worked 60+ hours every week, some closer to 80. My mariahe and child suffered greatly. You are a horrible, horrible person. |
