FCPS staff bonuses

I got an email saying all staff from last year will receive $1000 in November. While I certainly appreciate extra money, that 32 million could be spent on textbooks and workbooks that would make it so much easier for kids to keep learning if school is closed, and would save me an incredible amount of time in terms of not having to download resources and copy work for kids to do.

That’s a better use of funds than the 78.8 M to be used for “equity and social emotional health initiatives”

FCPS should at least provide the worksheets to the teachers so that teachers don’t have to search and copy random worksheets. The public school system in another state used to do that and as a parent I appreciated the high quality math and LA worksheets. I did not miss textbooks there.

And by that they mean the SEL stuff the state was already requiring them to do...

I imagine there must be plenty of teachers that would also like the district to do its job and actually provide learning materials to save them way more than 1K's worth of time this year hunting and uploading and photo copying...

It's not all staff last year. It is all current staff, whether they were in FCPS or not.

Oh please OP shut up. You know they’d just buy some other digital platform we all hate. Take your money and quit being a pick me.

I’d rather have a proper step increase…

Bonus for what? For only working 4 days a week last year?

How about you donate your money then, OP?

I don’t think the OP is a teacher, but is a parent who wants the workbooks posing as a teacher.

As far as platforms go, I’m curious to know how other ES teachers are using Schoology. We haven’t put anything up yet but parents are starting to ask if we are using it. They are fine once we explain where we are with it now, but some seem to be expecting daily assignments.

I worked 5 days a week, but I’ll be sure to work slightly less on your kids now.

OP, why don't you just ask your lawyer husband to make up the difference?

If they don’t offer a bonus/step increase they will lose a lot more teachers to neighboring districts.

Yep, I feel the same way. If the parents continue to insult us, they’ll definitely get less. I can happily give them what the “think” we work.
