Did your 9 year old watch Stranger Things?

Gravity Falls?

Op here. We love Gravity Falls!

What was the rape scene? I don't remember the show very well.

No.

My son (11 has seen the first season). He wasn't scared, but only thought the show was ok. I think a lot of the 80s nostalgia was lost on him, and he was bored by the romantic subplots. He didn't hate the show, just didn't like it as much as I thought he would.

My son was 6 when we watched the first season. He covered his eyes when he got scared but overall enjoyed the series. He was fine watching the next two seasons. He's 12 now and patiently waiting for season 4.

So, how did you explain some of the scenes like the above when they're joking around about the girl blowing the teacher? Or the cop saying he was screwing someone in the back of seat.

I suppose at 6,my kid wouldn't have even noticed. But at 9, he's going to ask what that means.

I let my 10/11 year old watch it. Also let her watch On My Block on Netflix(we watched it together). I'd rather she hear/see this stuff on t.v. than from her friends. As for Stranger Things, her ENTIRE class was watching it and discussing it everyday so I wanted her to be able to participate. My mom was a teacher for 40 years (elementary and high school) and always made sure we were up to speed on what was "in" or current with our peers. She is gone now but am so grateful she did that and am doing same with my kids.

While Seasons 1 and 2 are less so, I thought the disturbing level really got upped in Season 3 (with the possessed people who liquefied at one point). As an adult I found that pretty disturbing.

Oh man, do you guys remember Are Your Afraid of the Dark? Who thought that one was a good idea? I was scared to swim for weeks after the pool one.

There wasn't a rape scene in Stranger Things.

I let my teens watch it. But no, I wouldn't let a 9yo watch it.

I think they're talking about the scene where the female lifeguard gets held down and possessed. Season 3 really is quite dark.

No my 9yo hasn’t seen it.

Depending on the kid, that's a little young and a little scary.

Pretty sure the ENTIRE class was not.

You are responding to me. They were. She is in a small private school with small class sizes. All 13 were watching it and would actually watch it online together sometimes. Sorry kid's your class has 35 kids in it.
