Feeling really bloated, what can help?

This plus coffee

I’m doing a 45 minute kickboxing cardio class today and a 50 minute strength training class tomorrow. I usually only eat OMAD/ IF 21:3. I’m starting to think that’s causing the bloating because lately I’ve been waiting til about 8pm to eat.

I’m really strict on the IF, googling if green tea breaks my fast. I don’t drink coffee on the regular, but I was thinking about having a cup because it usually gives me diarrhea which I was thinking might help?

Regarding the BP, my Rx is basically water pills. I was thinking maybe the bloat was due to water bloat.

Truth be told, I did have 3 Krispy Kreme donuts when I ran up on a new location when I visited IKEA in Woodbridge (ate them during my window. They were not worth it. )

Ok. Won’t take the old BP pills.

You're binging three donuts and feeling bad because you're not satisfying your body's nutritional needs through regular feeding. OP, considering drinking coffee for the diarrhea/weight loss side effects is crossing the line into disordered eating behavior, IMO.

Agree. And BP meds that you are calling "water pills" aren't benign. You are over-riding/altering your body's ability to balance your electorates and fluids by taking them. You could end up with an electrolyte imbalance and/or too low BP.

Sadly, all of that could be true. My OMAD/IF had really been working for me, and I’m usually satisfied but lately it does feel like I’m having these moments of just wanting to eat everything. That’s where the donuts came in. I’ve lost a significant amount of weight over the last 2 years (120lbs), but then gained about 25lbs back over the last 8 months and I’m feeling a frantic, overwhelmed and out of control about the weight I’ve gained back. And I had a goal weight for the concert that I didn’t make, so I am 😔 sad.

Have you considered talking to your doctor about getting a referral to a dietician? Often when we lose large amounts of weight, we do it through very restrictive methods that don't lend themselves to long-term solutions. A dietician can help you map out a more effective long-term food plan.

This sounds pretty dysfunctional. I'd consider talking to someone about better ways to reframe your approach to weight/health/body image.

Definitely not pregnant. I’m 48.

Unlikely, but it could happen.

I am working with a dietitian. One of things they’ve told me is that my body and my brain will always want to go back to the fat state for the rest of my life. . So it’s really a constant struggle everyday. It’s so exhausting. It takes up so much energy. At my “mature” age it’s really hard to teach an old dog new tricks about reframing body image. And going from 300+lbs down to 163lbs (my lowest) has been a real mind F$&ucK. So unfortunately it leads to dysfunctional ways of maintaining. But I’m really trying to do my best. I was telling DH after I ate the donuts how much I wanted to hurl them after. They were so not worth it. Nothing sweet, ever it seems and that’s disappointing as well. I just want to enjoy the Fu$&cking donut and move on. But instead I think about it for days after.

But back to this bloat. I’ve had three cups of green today. What does magnesium do?

Magnesium is laxative afaik, though some sources listed it as diuretic.

I would go with mild diuretics - watermelon, cranberry juice (diluted), celery, coffee and plenty of water.
But honestly - just wait. It'll pass on its own if you just keep doing what you used to be doing. Sometimes bloating is just there due to your cycle or moon cycle or who knows what. It all shall pass.

Lots of water. Low sodium food. Take miralax if you’re constipated.

Take it from someone who has been there. You are messing up your metabolism. I lost 110 pounds in about a year and a half, and when I tried to go back to normal eating, I’m all messed up. My body doesn’t let me not eat any more, or eat like an anorexic, because it just drops me on the floor and I pass out. Once I had to eat like a human after having a baby, my body holds on to every pound. Stop overthinking it and definitely stop playing with meds. Be happy where you are.
