Security contractors too. Normally foreign nationals won't report it because a) you're going up against a American with a prestigious job, b) they might not speak English, c) they have no proof and don't trust the local police to investigate properly, and d) they know the guy has diplomatic immunity anyway. This girl in Mexico City was lucky and able to call out for help from a balcony. |
| It happening "all the time" surely is an exaggeration, right? |
Nope. People complain about American policing tactics but in many third-world countries it is truly the Wild West with very lax enforcement or zero laws at all about sexual assault let alone 'coerced' rape. Lots of men sign up for jobs overseas in poor countries just so they can take advantage of women and girls in less developed countries who either can't or won't turn them in. its not just Americans either. The United Nations was sued because their peacekeeping forces raped so many females in Haiti that they left behind hundreds of newborns and started a STD hot spot. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/12/18/world/americas/haiti-un-peacekeepers.html |
| Effing pervert loser. I can’t even with these men. My blood is boiling. |
| Read between the lines in the affidavit. He wasn’t a State employee. |
| Might be time to rethink the concept of diplomatic immunity. I’d be happy to let the Mexicans have this one. |
No more diplomatic immunity No more qualified immunity Let justice prevail! |
For rape, sexual assault, and pre-meditated murder - yes waive it. Or all countries agree to a new Alcatraz prison with global jurisdiction regulated-and-monitored by the Hague. |
An ice-dungeon on Svalbard. |
This…is what I’m thinking. Nobody is claiming this guy as an employee. It never says FSO. |
My guess is DSS. He has that CrossFit/douchebro/“legend in my own mind” look that a lot of bad security guys share. |
interesting that a guy who thinks he's all that has to drug a woman to get any. Yea, I know.. it's not always about sex, but still... douchebag make me want to gag |
| After working abroad, i met and saw some super creepy people that work in abroad postings. I met one Canadian FSO couple where the husband was weirdly controlling - had his wife on an allowance, like she had to call him when we were all out to get permission to buy a $10 shirt (and btw she was also a white Canadian so it wasn’t that dynamic) or go anywhere. I saw a lot of infidelity and short tempered men. A lot of the people that work abroad from the US are great people and just ambitious or committed to the work....but there is a pretty healthy segment that, well, it doesn’t seem like anybody misses them here in the US. |
The guys in there Willy are care of it. I guarantee it won’t be fun for him. |
| Does this look like the same guy? https://www.opensecrets.org/revolving/rev_summary.php?id=77485 |
