| I like adding torn up basil leaves to my salads sometimes. Also sliced green onion. They make the “base” ie the greens part of the salad a lot tastier to me than just lettuce. |
Agreed. I don’t understand the American obsession with making everything sweet. Especially salads and salad dressings. |
+1. It can be tasty but I think the best dressings are just an acid like lemon juice or vinegar, good olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper. Maybe herbs if you are feeling fancy. |
This - I just did spring mix, peach, blueberry, glazed almonds, goat cheese, very thinly sliced red onion, with honey balsamic. |
|
Add berries - strawberries, blueberries, . Or clementine slices.
I love the sweet zip it adds |

Personally, I really like the taste of bitter greens and get tired for lettuce. I like to experiment with all types of blanched greens, such as kale.
I cannot wait for summer tomatoes to ripen. Also, bacon makes any salad tasty. |

Try some new lettuces. I am in love with baby butter reds.
Change out your dressings - have you tried a Japanese miso/carrot dressing? How about adding some minced shallots in a dijon dressing? Change up your protein - boiled egg, chopped chicken, bacon, chickpeas, steak, etc. Change up your crunchy - pepitas, sunflower seeds, roasted chickpeas, parmesan crips, tortilla chips Also, if you normally have large lettuce pieces, try chopping it up smaller. |
| Slivered almonds! Sooo yummy. |
Me too! A recent fave is arugula, basil, avocado, nectarine, goat cheese or mozzarella, cracked pepper. Drizzled with fancy olive oil and great champagne vinegar |
