Only if you lean on credentials instead of merit your whole life, or think soccer clubs made the difference vs. really smart kids. |
About what? kids that started playing soccer over a decade compared to kids with a decade ahead of them? Stupid |
+1 I have two boys and pay about 5,000 per year for year round soccer. I could care less if they play later in college! #soccermom |
lol! |
Lol. I see what you did there.
|
| It would be cool if there was like an actual alignment of rosters |
Huh? |
I believe the PP’s point is that this thread is a silly spin off of the Samba boys thread, which debates in nutty terms, the relative superiority of the top U9 teams at Bethesda and SYC. The PP suggests the kids from each club who end up committed to the enviable colleges on that list will not be the kids currently tearing it up on those two U9 teams |
My son is on the MLS Next team and he's going to college. I am not setting an "ECNL path" for him to get there, his good grades and academics will get him there! |
No response? It's okay, I can update you. There are fewer than 10 total girls that are going from SYC to VA Union. Did you hear that? Fewer than 10. SYC hasn't prepared its girls to play competitively, and the merger wasn't for them. It was for the boys, but they were not expecting to get MLS Next. There will not be any difference in the future. |
In large part, because only 09's hadn't already been picked apart. While many of the 08's stayed, several left for other ECNL teams in their first year of opportunity. A more fair way to ask this question is how many former SYC 07/08/09 girls are at ECNL teams (teams that had at least some time under current leadership), not limiting it to just Union. Union is a new construct and most girls with the skill to play didn't wait around because there wasn't an option. The point of Union is to get them to choose that option, not spread to VDA/BRYC/Mclean like prior years. Without the partnership, Arlington getting ECNL girls creates yet another close alternative that would have been a draw. |
Any ECNL caliber SYC player older than U13 left years ago for clubs like VDA, Arlington, McLean etc. There are not many U15 CCL players moving to ECNL from any club. Look at the older groups of Loudoun ECNL to see what happens when depleted CCL teams get thrown into ECNL. The proof will be what 08, 09 and 10's from SYC make ECNL not how many older CCL players who never bother trying out or didn't make ECNL teams before still don't make a Union team now. |
So the club doesn't care about 2007s, 2006s, 2005s, 2004s, 2003s got it. |
Literally less than a starting 11 were selected for Union. SYC doesn't take the time to develop girls nor give them the same resources as boys. |
How many McLean girls made the 08 Union roster for the fall? 09 roster? Not dual rostered - actually made the squad. How many from other clubs? Since you represent that know the answers, why don’t you share? Or are you cherry picking SYC to make a point without context? Give us a rundown of who did it better. |
