College Commitments - SYC vs Bethesda

Anonymous
There's quite a rift going on the 2012 teams ( ) so I thought we could look at the 2021 commitments for college-bound players:

2021 Bethesda (includes multiples; this is also boys and girls): Frosterburg State, University of Dayton, Mount St. Mary's, Mount Olive, COlumbia, University of Delaware, American University, Central Connecticut State, Mount Union, Georgetown, Princeton, Yale, Johns Hopkins, Bridgewater, Washington University in St. Louis, Boston University, Harvard, Howard, Penn State Harrisburg

2021 SYC (includes multiples, this is only boys as there are no girls college-bound from SYC): Howard, Radford, Longwood, Montclair State, Westminster College

Thanks, we’ve all been on the edge of our seats waiting for this information.

So, years of travel soccer and thousands of dollars gets you a spot (non-scholarship) on a third-tier D3 team?

Sounds like a great plan.

Soooo is SYC just a stepping-stone for Radford or something?

This is preposterous. Most U9s on either will not be on any of these teams when they are graduating.

I really hate this attitude. I don’t pay thousands of dollars a year for my kid to play soccer because I think it will result in a college scholarship or D1 soccer glory. Just like I don’t pay thousands a year for them to play piano in hopes of joining the symphony. Or send them away to camps so they can become an explorer. I do it because they enjoy it and kids gotta do something with their time other than video games.

Playing soccer is not an investment strategy and I don’t know anyone who thinks this

I agree. Lower the costs.

Couldn't agree more PP. I could care less if they play in college. I would rather they go to a good state university, study in a field where they can get a job, and not live in my basement when they are 30

How many SYC players are on the VA Union teams? This is 2009-2004 age groups.

I don't know how many but SYC arranged for a pathway, the rest is up to your kid whether or not a SYC coach posts about her team here or not.

Their U-littles coach should stop coming on here then to run his mouth
