1200 cal/day, filling vegetarian sample day

I'm 5' tall and weight 133 lbs. The dietician put me on a 1200 calorie a day diet. I objected and she was not budging.

There is no way that someone 8 inches taller than me should be at the same calorie level. Just no way.

Dr Now puts 600 pound patients on a 1200 calorie diet, no matter what.

OP here. Thanks for all the feedback. Even Noom put me at 1200 cal/day! Not sustainable for me. Going to try 1500 and see how that goes for a bit.

I do a smoothie with plant based protein powder, a couple handfuls of spinach, and frozen berries with water and a splash of cranberry juice every day. Filling and delicious! You can add lots of other good stuff too like chia or flax seeds.

NP, I just did a calorie calculator and it said to lose 10 pounds in 3 months, I'd have to go to 1216 calories. 5'4 and 140 lbs. Sad face. I brought my age down 20 years and it gave me an extra 100 calories a day! Second sad face.

I don't count calories, but I do do Weight Watchers. Two meals that are super filling for me are: 1 C oatmeal with PB2 powder a banana, and a tsp of syrup. This holds me until lunch. For lunch, there are 3 things I love to eat:

1. Whole wheat pita with 1 TBS cream cheese, Everything but the Bagel seasoning, and a ton of spinach
2. Tuna salad, made with relish, fat free greek yogurt, and mustard, in the pita with spinach
3. A gigantic buddha bowl, with greens, broccoli slaw, sweet potatoes or chick peas, tofu, and a peanut sauce made with that PB2.

Another snack I eat regularly is an apple with fat free greek yogurt mixed with, you guessed it, PB2 powder. Delicious and filling.

I'd sign up for weight watchers to get a better sense of how much you can eat to lose weight. I'm also vegetarian and don't eat eggs. I usually eat:

B: 0% fage with a little honey and lots of berries
L: big salad with lots of veggies, 1/4 c beans (chickpeas, lentils, black beans, etc), maybe avocado or nuts, 1 tbsp dressing; soups
S: fruit, pretzels, air popped popcorn, string cheese, hummus and veggies
D: tofu stir fry with 1 c rice, bean tacos with low carb tortilla, some kind of bean-green-grain bowl.

I like to follow Happy Herbivore and used to get her weekly meal plans for food ideas. I just make the rest of my family eat what I make for dinner and if they don't like it, they can make their own thing.

Also re: 1200 calories to lose 10 lbs in 3 months. If you eat a little more, is it the end of the world if you lose 10 lbs in 6 months? Can it be OK to have a long term goal? Especially when it's just 10 lbs, could you focus instead on some other metric--like strength/exercise, or feeling more energetic/less sluggish, and sleeping better, rather than the number on the scale?
