How many DC Public School administrators are collecting over $100,000 / year?

Turns out that when teachers refuse to do their jobs, and deny children an opportunity to get an education, parents start asking a lot of questions about school policies, like why teachers are paid so much.

How many gym teachers are making over 100k? I’m not digging through 900 pages of data to validate your claim!
Average salary for a DCPS teacher is about 72K, and most of them have advanced degrees.

Lots of them. Search by "Teacher, PE"

It's interesting that you feel school is SOOOOOOO important, yet you're questioning how much people make?

The starting pay for admin is OVER 100k, please don't cry about teachers.

And I've also never understood why 'stress' is a factor to how much someone should be paid, it's fairly subjective. Also the idea that management should be paid more, lol the people below them literally are the backbone, without them NOTHING happens.

There's over 4,000 teachers...of course some of them make 100k.

Interesting that you think PE is unworthy of that kind of money, I guess this is why most of the people in the US have subpar or poor health...

No one would care how much teachers or school administrators were making if they were actually doing their jobs. It's when schools are closed for this long for no good reason, and our kids are falling so far behind, that people ask, why on earth are these lazy-good-for-nothings making so much money?

I just cannot with the level of stupidity on this board these days.

My husband and I both graduated college at the same time and entered the DC workforce. Me as a teacher, him as a typical office worker in DC. I obtained two masters pretty quickly and he has one. After working for 15 years in DC (first in an education nonprofit, then as a teacher) I topped out at making about 80k/year. My husband makes 150. While I was a teacher I typically worked 20 hours a week more than him, at least. Sometimes 30. And yes, I worked a lot over summers too.

The notion that teachers are overpaid is absurd and you are clearly not in touch with reality.

Op, what dollar amount do you feel conveys the value of someone who is involved with operating a city's school system?

I personally don't care about $100K-$200K for administrators, nor about $100K+ for teachers. I think that's what the market bears.

Again, the question was “how many.” Ie, is DCPS central way over-staffed?

If I supervised several dozen staff and several hundred children and got talked about constantly on listservs and social media, and I had to report to DCPS leadership (and get minimal support from them/thrown under the bus at any opportunity) I would definitely want over $100,000 for that!
