I'm so tired of men making the world unsafe for women and girls to do something so benign as walking. Effing fed.up.

You are an asshole, victim-blaming piece of crap. |
+1. |
Please stop victim-blaming and blaming her parents. A friend’s DD was grabbed walking from their car (to retrieve an item) back into her home. A distance of 25 feet. At 4:30 pm. The problem isn’t where teen girls are when. The problem is sex offenders and the people who make excuses for them. |

A few years ago, I witnessed a woman get assaulted on a trail in DC at 2:30pm on a Thursday. It was on a weather day like today - warm, sunny, lovely. The time of day doesn't matter for men looking to hurt women and girls. |
What happened? Did you or someone else intervene?! That’s horrible. |
Poor child. How is she holding up? That’s such an awful thing to happen. I hope they catch that asshole and give him some jail time. |
The perp didn't know I was still in eyeshot, but my spidey senses went off when I saw him following her. And when I saw him pull her and heard her scream, I ran towards them - he took off. I called police (who were useless). |
Hats off to you! |
A 13 year old could be in 8th grade. Meaning high school in a few months. A 13 year old will be driving in 3 years. If your kid plays sports or does an after-school club, it is reasonable to expect that she can safely walk home at 6:30-7:00pm. It is insane to think that a female, here in the United States, a first-world country, can’t walk home in the evening safely. THAT is the problem. Not the fact that some parents allow their 13 year old girls to walk home at 6:45pm. |

Even so, my teens will not be out alone. |
Thank God for the witness who came to her aid. This is horrific, and it's horrific that it could have been worse; even deadly. |
I feel SO ANGRY that girls and women have to think about this and be afraid about getting assaulted. Think about it every day, at various hours and various locations. It’s so unfair and infuriating. I can’t image how relaxing it would be to be free of this fear. |
