APS health assessment text - 5:30 am

Yup. It literally takes 10 seconds. It’s not a big deal.

Set your phone to Do Not Disturb until a set time. When you’re ready to see the text message, it will be waiting for you.

This is not hard.

X100

If you can’t deal with off hours texts you shouldn’t have a phone.

The things some of you find cause to b*tch about never ceases to amaze me. This is a remarkably simple “problem” to fix with the technology you have. Anyway what grown adult who is working and raising kids in school isn’t up at 5:30 anyway?

We’re staying virtual, and we’ve been told to expect this text every morning at 5:30 am and to complete it despite the fact that we’re not on campus. Come on, man?!

Stop your whining. It takes 10 seconds.

When I’m working from home and everyone’s commute is from upstairs to downstairs, us. The one shining light in this pandemic is that we’re finally getting enough rest due to the lack of running around. I want a text at 5:30 if school is closed so I can turn the alarm off, but on a daily basis when my kid isn’t even going in? No thanks.

Then mute your texts until the time you wake up. Set DND til 7 am or whenever you get up. This is not hard!

I have this every single day, even days off, from my employer. My phone is silenced until 7am; on my days off I just complete it when I wake up. No one is going to come after you if you answer at 8am.

They are contracting this out. Are you really telling me that in 2021 an app/program/computer can’t sort students into 2 lists— those doing hybrid and those staying virtual? Of course they can. APS made no effort to do so.

The “two groups” are not likely to stay static. It would be an administrative nightmare to track the onesie to the changes to these lists. Some hybrid families are going to pull back to virtual after they see how things are. Then others will grab those spots. Also, virtual families in some cases are still participating in sports. Therefore they will need to fill out the tracker. Can you imagine having to track down who may be at a team practice this day or that day among all the middle and high schools, various sports, and then figure out if they each really completed the tracker? Having everyone do it just makes things simpler all around

Kids are constantly changing hybrid/virtual. It’s all a dog and pony show anyway. We all know people who will lie and send their kids anyway.

Do you really want APS employees and contractors spending their time keeping track of who is virtual and who isn’t and tailor the texts messages accordingly just so people don’t have to fill out a ten-second survey via text message?
Anonymous
What is absolutely bonkers is the AEM ladies who say it’s too unsafe to go back to school but also saying they’re refusing to answer the survey since they’re virtual!

You don’t have to complete it if you’re virtual. I’m not doing it on days my kid isn’t in school.

Yes you do. https://www.apsva.us/school-year-2020-21/health-safety/student-health-screener-frequently-asked-questions/

Do I need to complete the screener if my student is in distance learning or on a Saturday when my student is not attending an in-person class or activity?
We ask all families to complete the screening daily, whether your student is in distance learning or in person, and it must be completed for any students participating in person. The screening platform will allow APS to capture daily data regarding the health of the school community. This information will be used for monitoring and reporting close contacts, reported positive cases, COVID-like symptoms and other illnesses, and attendance among APS staff and students.

I think they want data on virtual kids so they can use it to water down the percentages of kids with COVID when they start in person. They have played with the data a lot in their reporting to the SB. They only recently starting showing COVID cases as percentages of actual in person students and teachers. I won’t be reporting for my DL kids unless they are going in for an activity etc.

They can ask but it’s not clear what the consequence is. Will they mark my kid absent from virtual. No.
