| I was 27 when I had my first. At daycare drop off I was asked by another parent if I was the morning nanny. You’ll be on the young side! |
| I could not tell you the exact age of many of the moms I know from my kids school, Dont worry about plus or minus 5 years - no one else is paying any attention at all. |
| In the DMV most people are over 30 when they start a family due to college and careers. It's the norm here but if you go into rural areas outside the DMV, there are mostly teen and 20 is moms, many single. It's a different world. |

No. That is young for this area. I don't know anyone who had a kid younger than 34. I was the youngest of all my friends at 34 to have a kid.
My friend just had unexpected twins at 45. At 33, you are practically a child to be a mom here. |
| I had my first at 32 and second at 35. It was twenty years ago and no one cared. I live in DC. |
+1 I had my first at 35 and feel right at the middle of the pack. |
| Not around here. My first was at 34 and that was about average and most friends had theirs between 30-35. Had my second at 38. |
+1 Not in the DMV. Had my DD at 33. |
You haven't said where you live. But, if you are in DC, then you already know there are women older than you having babies into their 40's. So, I'm not sure what is the purpose of your question. |
| I had my kids at 33 and 35. I'm right in the middle of my 'mom friends' in terms of age. |
| Honestly, no one cares if you're the oldest. I live in an area where the average age for 1st babies is early 20s, while I had my first in my early 30s. Most of my mom friends are 5-10 years younger and it literally plays no role in our friendship. I do admire their maturity - I was NOT ready at 21 to have my first baby! |
| I am 28 and a friend who is 29 recently told me I need to get married soon-ish or I'll "have" to have my first baby at 30 lmfao. First of all, I think the ship for having a baby at 30 has sailed unless I meet The One and get engaged and married AND pregnant within the next two years haha. Second of all, she said it like it was so tragic. I don't know anyone my age who has children; I figure most people here are at least 30 when they have their first. |
I was 30 and with my infant and someone came up to me and told me how nice it was that I had my kid so young. |

It’s all perspective, too. My MIL thinks I’m “an old mom” because I had my first at 29 (and last at 36) nearly a full decade past having her first at (barely) 20.
MIL loved to remind me of “when she was my age” milestones; “Happy 40th! Wow! When I was 40, DH was 1/2way through college and other DC was in HS! I couldn’t imagine having a 4 yr old!” We barely speak now. |
18-28 early 29-34 middle 35-45 later Of course, some women begin menopause at 35, then all bets are off. No mom instead of old mom.
