Do you have a gift you buy yourself when you reach a fitness goal?

I'm adding a pandora charm for every 5 pounds. I have them pre-picked out.

Anyone else motivated by goods?

No, no material gift except the gift of being healthy and looking good!

I buy myself a nice piece of jewelry to celebrate each time I finish a half marathon.

Yes, isn’t the gift looking and feeling better? What do you do if you gain back the weight? Put the item in the back of your closet until you lose the weight again? This seems kinda like substituting a food addiction with a shopping addiction.

Yeah, buying something nice for yourself every once and a while is a shopping addiction........

1. A 'fitness goal' doesn't have to be weight loss. It could be just becoming more active or exercising regularly, or learning a new skill like yoga or dancing. It could be running a certain distance or benching a certain weight, or starting weight training, or...you get the idea.

2. Nobody here said anything about a shopping addiction.

3. People who are buying a nice piece of jewellery or a bag are going to be able to use it even if they gain a few pounds.

Maybe try to be a little bit more encouraging of people's progress and goals.

That’s a nice idea, but almost every person on this thread who shared their “fitness goal” discussed losing weight or reaching a target weight. This is DCUM; the population doesn’t skew to triathletes.

I actually have been banking what I used to spend on Starbucks and Happy Hours. It’s terrible but I was spending $50-$150 PER WEEK with my daily sugary latte and breakfast sandwich/pastry and the 1-3 happy hours (drinks and apps) per week with coworkers. (Pre Covid of course!). Just eliminating those two indulgences and exercising 5 days a week, I’m down 22 pounds! I set aside $200 per month and splurge on something that I have had my eye one. One month, I bought a new workout outfit. Another, I splurged on new make up. This month, I ordered new bedding. I love treating myself and it’s money that I was already spending! This is just much more meaningful.

OP I like the bag. I'm going to put it on my birthday wishlist!
