| Chicken dish from a food delivery service. DH and I both were as sick as I can ever remember being in my entire life. We had a baby at the time, and trying to care for her was pure hell. Thankfully it only lasted a day or so. |
| Egg salad at a brunch buffet. Clearly it had been left out too long. I literally vomited so forcefully that egg and mayo shot thru my nose. Began heaving bile and water for about eight hours with alternating diarrhea. I slept on the floor. I will never ever eat egg salad again. |

I think it was caused by an undercooked egg. Not sure.
There was some sort of toxic bubble blocking my stomach. So even though I wanted to puke my guts out, for hours it was tiny amounts of puke and the most awful gut cramps I’ve ever experienced. I thought death was near as I lay on the cool bathroom floor. Eventually I let out a giant sulfuric burp. Then the real puke started. I was sick for days. Ugh. |
Which sushi place?!!
|
| Vietnam street food. A year of diarrhea, dehydration, meds and hospitals to get rid of a parasitic infection. Zero stars, do not recommend. |
Armenian? |
| Tips from Peace Corps: you can make rehydration solution in a quart/liter jar, fill it with water and enough salt so it tastes like tears. Add 7 or 8 spoonfuls of sugar, choke down what you can. To test for severe dehydration, pinch the skin on the back of your hand. If it doesn't bounce back quickly it's time for the hospital. And diarrhea like rice is probably cholera. Drink whatever you can and get to the hospital ASAP! Once you can eat a bit, the BRAT diet is a good plan. Bananas, rice, applesauce, toast. I've also found bananas excellent for vomiting, they absorb stomach acid and chunks don't get stuck in your nose. I'm sorry this is happening, I hope you feel better soon! |
| 1) Crab ravioli. This was the worst. I could barely function for 24 hours after the onset (4-5 hours after eating). Spend most of the time in the bathroom, sometimes puking and pooping simultaneously. 2) Crabs. Puked at the restaurant. No one else got sick, so I assume I just got a really bad one. 3) Indian food. Haven’t touched it since. Had to crawl back and wake my husband up and let him know that he couldn’t go to work the next day (SAHM with an infant). 4) Crab legs on a Sunday. Never buy seafood on a Sunday! |
Are you allergic to crabs? |
You have a theme going on here. 3 of your 4 examples are crab. Have you considered that it might be an allergy instead of food poisoning? |
| Food poisoning in South America. Diarrhea, chills, and fever of 105. Had to be hospitalized. IV and antibiotics fixed it. Ate some sketchy chicken a couple of days after discharge. Tasted great at the time. Since I was still on antibiotics I was the only one in the group who didn’t get intestinal distress from the chicken. |
| Night before the first day of my junior year in college. All five of us in the house made dinner together for the first time and all five of us started puking within a few hours. Our house had one bathroom and we took turns all night over the toilet. The next day we all had to get up and go to our first day of classes - not fun!! |
I got food poisoning from Outback, too! I had chicken. I woke up from a dead sleep and forcefully vomited all over. Then for the rest of the day. It was very violent, not like other stomach bugs I’ve had. |
| Got sick from HH snacks with DH a few years back. We spent the next day vomiting while our poor two year old destroyed the house. That was the last time. Never going back to that place even though they’ve since turned over the restaurant. |
Crab cakes made me sick once too. I’m definitely not allergic. |
