Putting Dog poop in other people trash bin

Anonymous
Note, then camera.
To PP who asks what the problem is: even tied, it reeks (especially in hotter weather) and the bags can and do break/leak.

By law you cannot put your trash (of any kind) in another person's trash can.

It doesn't matter if it is poop or a shoe or a bag of cookies, it is off bounds.

OP here , I will look into putting sign and yes we are putting camera but not because of this issue .
Thanks everybody ,

Technically, it is trespassing. But not a thing often enforced.

OP here I just looked up signs online . Where exactly should I stick it in order for dog poppy pirates not to miss a sign ?. On the top of lid ? Or the front , not sure where will trash bin will be facing once trash gets picked up ?
Or maybe on top of the lid and all four sides ? So people do not even approach ,

I just do not get how people think this is an ok thing to do...though I guess they are one step up from the people who just stick the bag on a bush or recycling bin.

I work from home an grab my bins as soon as the truck goes by. Have had to power wash my bin from broken bags a few times.

For those of you that say put up a camera, for what? So you can confront the person? "Stop putting your dog poop in the trash bins that I use that belong to the county...or else!!!"

These are government issued trash bins. There is nothing you can do. Confront all you want, but the person isn't going to care and will keep doing it. And no, I don't have a dog.

I don't have that issue, but I do have a chronic issue with people from a nearby apt building putting their trash in my bin. They have two parking lots, one on the same side of the building where their dumpster is, one on the other side and next to my backyard, where it is more convenient for them to use mine.

The problem with this, at least in my area, is that the garbage men just grab the big trash bags and don’t go fishing in the can for small items, nor do they physically pick up the can to dump it in the truck. So a small poop bag will be left at the bottom of the can. I’ve had it happen to me and it’s infuriating.

You can keep repeating this, but it doesn't make it true.

I taught my dog to shit over the trash can. She's only about 7 lbs and it is easier than bagging it up.

This is absolutely disgusting and you should definitely put up a sign on your bin. Giving all dog owners a bad name

“Social media shaming to the idiot who puts poo in here.”

Similar example: the city owns the sidewalk in front of my house but I am required to maintain it. Same goes for the grassy area between sidewalk and street. If someone piled up garbage there I would be required to take care of it or face a fine.

Agree. I would never put dog poop in somebody else’s trashcan. On that note I never put dog poop in the trashcan at bus stops either. It is inconsiderate to do so as people taking a bus will be forced to smell that nastiness, especially in the summer. The waste is from my dog so I either bring it home to put in my trash or put it in a designated dog bag trash bin, if available on my walk.

Agree. People are always putting their dog poop in a plastic bag in our compost bin which is so wrong.
