first generation hungarian-american |
Another white mutt -- Italian, Irish, German |
White (Eastern European), Jewish.
Only way being Jewish has/will influenced my parenting is that if I have a son, I will have him circumcised despite the debate and pros/cons. Oh, and I'm sure my MIL will introduce my soon to be born daughter to the wonderful world of Jewish guilt trips. |
Pure Pakistani! |
Indian |
White, from U.S. South. DH also white but from Africa. |
Mostly German and Filipino, with drops of English, Irish, Spanish and Japanese. |
Brazilian, maternal grandfather was italian and paternal grandmother was portuguese. I also have friends with light skin and blue eyes just as well as I have black and asian friends back home and I still consider myself latin, not white. Don't understand what 07:14 was talking about.
As far as different child rearing opinions go, most people on here don't even respect little differences in parenting from each other (co-sleeping or not, BFing or not, sleep training or not), so good luck with introducing a whole different culture into the mix. |
Very curious to hear how you deal with some of the cultural difference-extended vs. nuclear family; o.k. to tell family members to stay in a hotel vs. very rude to tell family members to stay in a hotel; family has an opinion about everythings vs. everyone should mind their business, etc... |
Why is "European" described as "mutt"? That sounds rather ignorant. |
Me: White , German (moved here 8 years ago)
DH: African American |
Black American--mom
Black American--dad (but he never enters the world of DCUM) |
Jewish |
White, hispanic. I also get but you are so light, how can you have blond hair which is this day and age just seems ignorant to me. This is my problem with "hispanic" as a race. I know hispanics who could fall under, asian, indian, black, white.
Not often, but sometimes I will explain that just like in many countries, there were native indians, people immigrated from all over but mainly from Europe and there were also slaves. So you have the full range. Hispanic does not always equal brown. |
jewish, immigrated from Russia |
