Rhee is off her rocker and you all should call now and let that wakadoodle know.

Anonymous.I think they have no respect or consideration for all of their teachers, and employees who live in the all of the other counties and have to drive or take public trasportation or for the kids who could fall and get injured. They should have more common sense

I, for one, am glad dcps will be open. I'm confident we'll have no problem getting to school by 10:30, whether we walk/Metro or try to drive. The main roads around my neighborhood, including Wisconsin Ave. and River Road are very passable and there was a decent amount of traffic on them today. Enough people were already out and about and walking around the shops and restaurants that were open along Wisconsin. For us it would have been a little ridiculous to stay home from school tomorrow when today we were able to go out to lunch, walk to metro, and hit a couple of shops. And it will be a huge relief not to have a bored, complaining DC at home for one more day.

But do you realize that is simply YOUR case, and YOUR neighborhood? I am glad that you have the relief of not having to contend with a bored kid "for one more day," but what about us teachers who have no idea how to get in? What about the kids who have to walk along roads and sidewalks that haven't seen a plow?

How freakin selfish and short sighted are you???

Does anyone know if it has anything to do with funding?

DC hasn't taken ANY snow days this year.

To this selfish lady who lives in her afluent NW area and does not want to bother with her kids because she wants the day off to her self. Think about others who have to make it down there to babysit your kids. While you are enjoying your day off. Way to go with parenting

will a bunch of angry emails have any effect on Rhee? Will they even be read?

I think this is INSANE. I live near the Dept of Transportation and I could not walk on the sidewalks to go to the store. I had to share streets (that weren't cleared) with cars. I can only imagine what side streets look like. Children walking to school in the street. I don't have children but if I did they would NOT be going in. Rhee and Fenty have officially lost their minds. I've emailed them both to say as much!

Are you for real, or are you deliberately trying to piss people off?

Maybe, but only if they are sent. Let them know the power of DCUM!

As much as I disagree with and hate Rhee for making this call, there is one benefit. I think that this will probably be one of the last acts that the great chancellor Michelle Rhee performs before she is put out of office. So lets suck it up and hope that she has brought about the end of herself.

18:37: Of course I'm aware that not everyone is going to have it as easy. I was just stating MY relief, from MY perspective. That's why I said "I, for one" and "for us." I wasn't writing in to say "ha, ha, ha, screw everybody else." I was just sharing my different opinion, given my circumstances. You know how it works: you have a post expressing an opinion about one particular decision and then people chime in saying whether they agree or disagree. Well, in this instance, I just wanted to chime in with the minority viewpoint. Not everybody is going to be pissed that dcps is open tomorrow. You can state your disagreement without going all ballistic on a fairly innocuous posting of my opinion. And no, most people would not describe as selfish or short sighted. Maybe you're justifiably freaking out about tomorrow, and my post seemed a little flippant to you (which was not my intention), but what's the point of your insults. Take a deep breath.
