Poll: vanity or pedestal sink

Team Vanity. There is no such thing as too much storage.

We have a vanity that has a small drawer under the sink and then a shelf about six inches from the floor. It has the open feel of a pedestal but the storage we need. But you could always hang wall shelves and use a toilet paper pole to deal with storage.

No pedestal sink....EVER!!!

(Said in the style of Mommy Dearest “no wire hangers....ever!”)

I love pedestal sinks. We have them in two houses.

That said, if a vanity will fit in your space without looking too tight or out of proportion, I'd go with a vanity.

Pedestal works best if you're going for a certain look. We put them in a large bathroom that had plenty of storage space for a retro look. In our current house, we have it in a BR right next to a glass shower. The space constraint meant that in this case, a vanity would be right next to the shower, leaving a slight gap between the glass and the side of the vanity. It wouldn't look right and would also be hard to clean. So we opted for a pedestal in that space and supplement with a storage cabinet. If your set up is like this, maybe consider other storage options.

I think a pedestal looks nicer - but that the function of a vanity supersedes. It stinks being in someone's guest room and realizing you're out of TP, or need to plunge, and not being able to navigate the situation without having to leave the room to ask for help.

We have a big non-storage deprived home and still pick the vanity. There are certain items you just need in that bathroom, so a lot of storage other places doesn't help you. Vanities all the way!

If you need the storage, go with a vanity, definitely.

That warehouse direct vanity is fugly.

Just get a vanity that you like that is 24” or less. That is the smallest standard size but will hold a lot.

Lowe’s or IKEA for lower budget, restoration hardware or pottery barn for higher budget. Also please no euro or vessel sinks.

Vanity. Pedestal is nice for simple and space but zero storage. Nice to have a vanity. I hate ours and will replace it when we remodel and tiny bathroom.

Definitely vanity. Both for the storage and the look - pedestal seems both old fashioned and non-functional.

Vanity. I HATE pedestal sinks vehemently.
