1 in 4 girls are sexually assaulted in a life time, 1in 5 boys.
Of course it is happening in every school. |
I agree that it’s happening in every school. I really dislike allowing people to call out minors and our accusations like this out there. |
Except that, even when students do report these incidents, MCPS doesn’t act appropriately. Remember Damascus? The victim went to the principal and nobody was Held accountable. Remember the Rockville case? MCPS has a culture of not keeping students safe from sexual assault on their watch. Students see this happen and know they won’t get the support they need from MCPS. MCPS would rather sweep any untoward incidents under the rug. |
Blair has a culture of problems like this. Eastern Middle too |
Allegations from over 100 students from 12 schools. https://bethesdamagazine.com/bethesda-beat/schools/mcps-police-investigating-dozens-of-sexual-assault-and-harassment-claims/ |
The article does not say if any of the offenses happened at school. |
If it's a sexual assault, it should be reported to the police. That's what the email from MCPS even says. |
+1 If my kid was sexually assaulted, I wouldn't just stop at complaining to the school. I'd call the cops. Not excusing MCPS, but posting these allegations on social media is not the right way to do it. |
| Is there a way to see the posts? |
That's partly why there's a push to expand the Clery Act to cover K-12 schools also. It requires colleges to report to the public about crime on campus -- before they were quietly sweeping it under the rug to not sully the school's reputation. |
| High school, college doesn’t matter - always go to the actual police. |
Why didn’t they mention Frost? That’s the middle school that came up the most. I didn’t see any marked Eastern. |
where? |
Did you follow the Damascus story? That is NOT what happened. Admin wanted to keep it away from Police. MCPS even says in its trainings that teachers and coaches and admin are mandated reporters. But that did NOT happen. And there were no negative consequences for the “mandated reporters” who did not report to the police right away. |
