Teachers obliged to wear masks. Students not required?

Did you start this thread in the VA schools forum, too? Its not required for anyone to wear a mask. If a teacher can't socially distance, she should throw a mask on for a few minutes.

Face Shields protect your eyes from airborne droplets - you still need to cover your nose and mouth - that's why you Drs & nurses in both.

No mask, no education. Simple.

The issue is it stays in the air for 15+ minutes so its not just about socially distancing.

The shield extends past my chin. Teachers can’t teach in a mask. At least not well. Kids won’t be able to hear me as I won’t have the oxygen supply to project. And students aren’t going to keep masks in either. We’re going to hope for the best and deal with periodic shutdowns most likely.

Kids growing body needs 3 to 4 times an adult needs.

Masks restrict breathng by 80%.

Brain that is oxygen depraved can experience serious issues.

Lack of oxygen leads to cellular cancer.

Masks are not safe for long term use.

Never were.

That would require changes to discipline policies and changes in DCUM culture. Even if former gets through, the later won’t. DCUM parents don’t care if a para with a heart condition dies.

Teachers can’t wear masks either. I’m thinking of all the students with hearing or attention issues.

Masks are for short term emergency use Only! not daily multi-hours non stop use!

Brain, lung, heart damage due to insufficient oxygen.

NO!

Maybe in MD or DC, but in VA kids will be happily mask-free.

But somehow teachers yes?

Okie dokie

Teachers can wear masks, but shouldn't be required to. And students can wear masks, but shouldn't be required to.

Treat them the same. Welcomed, but not required.

But certainly adults know how to wear a mask properly, not fling it around, not touch the outside, not pull it down to talk. Kids... not so much, LOL.

This not something to LOL about frankly.

When my grandmother was a girl, children in her community could and did attend school barefoot. At some point the state imposed wearing shoes. I doubt they even had a public health emergency. Life went on.
