Cooking. My 8 year old has been exploring cook books and having me help him. He's getting a grasp on fractions and how to measure things on his own. My 4 year old likes to stir and crack the eggs. They are picking out their own meal more, and actually eating better which is nice. |

We have had a family project on the kitchen table the whole time - first one big Lego set, then a big puzzle, and now it’s Legos again. It’s meant there is always something to do when someone is bored. We’ve also watched a lot of movies and take turns picking. Sometimes we turn out all the lights and pretend we’re at the movie theater. We also bought a Chromebook for our older kid and a fire tablet for the younger one so we have enough devices in the house for everyone to work and go to school on so we’re not competing for them. |
Another vote for badminton. Also, using our basketball hoop a lot. Indoors, we got on-line Ticket to Ride, which is so much easier than the board game version. We've been playing that a ton. Agree with other poster about making sure everyone gets outside and gets some exercise as much as possible. |
We got a climbing dome. Kids are on it constantly |
Parks and trails being open. I honestly think I’d lose my mind if I couldn’t be outdoors in the woods at least twice a week. I’m hanging in by a thread as it is and this is what is keeping me sane. I am still working FT ( 1st responder) and so is spouse and we have a 7yo at home. Never being alone.... like ever, is killing my introverted OCD self. |
Having our housekeeper come again. Wait. Hear me out. She is just one person, not a team, so she is there for several hours. She wants to work, but I want her to be safe, so this means that we have to take a day trip away from the house for at least 4-5 hours once a week.
It’s been great! I pack a lunch and some books and print off schoolwork. We put fishing poles, nets, and baseball gloves into the car and head out for the day. There are no screens, no WiFi, and the kids have a great time! Is is more work for me than just cleaning my house? Yes. But it’s been really, really good. |

6000 sq ft. We moved right before all this thank Christ.
Other than that, very good wine, the best pizzas from near and far, movies every night, wagyu beef on the grill, lots of outdoors time with the kids and dogs. Honestly given technology and shipping we have access to like the best versions of everything that humans are ever come up with. That makes staying home not all that bad. |
We got an electronic keyboard and my 6 year-old spends at least an hour a day (split up into smaller blocks) using the Simply Piano app. We have it in the main living area and he just gravitates to it between things and does a little playing. I doubt he will ever be a serious musician, but I like that he is getting a little bit of musical fluency. |
6000 sq ft house with a nice-sized yard, parents staying with us, and live-in nanny. |

Damn, I wish I hadn't clicked on this thread. Signed, someone who is definitely not eating Waygu beef in 6000 sq ft. |
Getting them outside first thing in the morning and running their butts for a good two hours. The two days we didn’t run-the-Kids they were crazy and horribly behaved all day. We even run in the rain.
My 7 yr old will listen to his Godmother read him a book on FaceTime for an hour. She ordered the Magic Treehouse series and he looks forward to auntie’s storytime and it gives is a break to do dishes and get the toddler bathed and in bed. |
Cooking together, playing badminton, taking pictures at birds coming to the feeders in our backyard. We have a great time. |
