Interesting. Looks like they have a dc location too. Will have to check them out. |
I didn’t notice any nuts, but definitely call ahead to ask. I’m happy that so many of you seem interested! This is one of our favorite new restaurants, and we hope it succeeds. |
Potato-crusted salmon at La Ferme (in Chevy Chase MD) for lunch today. It was YUM! |
Not exotic but very interesting and very delicious was this egg poached in milk at the Dabney in DC. It has squash puree and wilted greens in the bottom and was served with bread. I hadn't heard about the place before going in (friends had and chose it) and it was a nice surprise. |
I love Fancy Radish for unexpected veggie dishes. Amazing rutabega fondue and carrots that taste like smoked pastrami. So good! The smoked chiogga beet toast is also one of the most amazing dishes I have ever had.
I also love Laos in Town, especially the crispy rice salad for totally fresh and unexpected flavors. |
We're out of state, but we went to a French bistro and my DS13 ordered the bone marrow dish. He loved it. We also ordered the pan seared fois gras-- it was divine. On another trip (same restaurant) truffles were in season and DS ordered the truffle pasta. The waiter shaved truffle over DS's pasta and it looked amazing. (DS is a foodie).
I make pesto alla trapanese at home, and everyone pretty much licks the bottom of the bowl (it has nuts, I saw someone is allergic). It's an interesting dish because it's incredibly simple to make and the pesto is a perfect "salt, fat, acid, heat." Another one I make at home The Splendid Table pineapple fried rice with black pepper and bacon. It's a guilty pleasure, family scrapes the pan -- dicedbacon, shiitake mushrooms, ginger, pineapple, cilantro, scallions, soy sauce....rice, more soy sauce, siracha, I top with jalapeños because it can never be too hot...so good |
Bacon wrapped dates, dates are stuffed in goat cheese, then wrapped in bacon and cooked. It melts in your mouth, never had anything so amazing. |
I need to give props to urban plates at montgomery mall. They always have lots of flavorful choices. |
Eww prions |
I could never. I feel like there is no way to ensure it's not diseased. |
Bistro Aracosia for the best Afghan food in the area. They also have locations in Springfield and McLean (under different names). Their rice with julienne carrots and raisins pairs so beautifully with their grilled meats or stews. |
NP. This place looks great! Thank you for the recommendation, I will definitely check them out. |
Honey glazed kabocha with ginger and sesame, so good! |
Where? Seriously (big kobocha squash fan here) |
Tried Korean Hot Pot recently and that was a fun experience. |
