What’s the most interesting thing you’ve eaten lately

I’m in a travel rut and a cooking rut. I want to eat out more and try new things.

So tell me—what is the most interesting food you’ve eaten lately? Last few months? A year? Whenever—just share!

We went to a Uyghur restaurant for the first time ever last month (Eerkins in Rockville--they have branches in Fairfax and a couple other places around the DMV as well). Everything we had was very tasty, but we especially liked the homemade noodle dishes. I've since read more about Uyghur cuisine, and have seen it described as having strong Chinese, Indian and Mediterranean influences. They also had a huge variety of tea on offer. We'll definitely go back there.

Cow brain soup. It was... odd.

There is a Trinidadian place on H Street NE that I enjoyed. It's kind of similar to Jamaican and Indian food, but not exactly the same.

That sounds great!

A Vietnamese place near me does roll your own spring rolls. You get about a dozen wrappers, shrimp, pork, lettuce, cucumbers, carrots, sprouts, sauces, etc. It’s not exotic, but I like it.

Probably boring to you, but just had apples slices dipped in melted Brie.

I’m not OP but I too am in a rut and sometimes it’s nice to be reminded of options like this.

Probably Jaleo, maybe the dish with roasted vegetables and quail eggs. But this is making me think I am in a bit of a rut too.

Op again—this sounds really good, and I’m in Rockville! Thanks!

Sounds delicious. My son is allergic to nuts: do they serve nuts in many dishes?

Ramen. I took a $2 packet from the grocery store and added steamed broccoli, mushrooms, sliced peppers, cubes of tofu, and a beaten egg. YUM!
