California has the worst quality of life in America

do you have children?

I lived in SF with children. I could not wait to get out of there! It is not a family friendly place. The schools suck. Public transportation sucks. The hills are hard with kids...you can't push a stroller down the street or have your kids ride scooters like you can in other urban areas.

The quality of life is so terrible that lots of wealthy people and celebrities choose to live there.

I would rather be poor in California than rich in North Dakota.

Yes, yes I do. The part of the city I live in is flat mostly. I find mass transit to be just fine. You can get out of schools what you put in. Lots of kids from public SF schools get into Berkeley and Stanford so the schools aren't THAT bad.

Who the hell lives in North Dakota?! Please it’s a place for only a certain type of people who can thrive there.

Yes, it is totally horrible here in California. As I write this, I am definitely not enjoying oceanside drinks by a gorgeous ocean while my kids play on the beach in beautiful early February weather. It's definitely better in North Dakota and you should all go there.

You mean people who can afford mansions, nannies galore and private schools? Yes, can't imagine why they wouldn't struggle like the average person.

DP.. I grew up in Socal, then moved to Norcal, and still have friends/family there. Most of them are not wealthy, at all. One lives near the beach, but is renting a place. One spouse works in IT, and the other is a sahp to teens.

I really miss sitting outside *everyday*, taking my kids to the park almost every weekend; outdoor bbqs year round.

16. Well, if Republicans were more common-sense they might have a chance...

17. Taxes: It’s not so bad, actually

18. Smog: better than it used to be, thanks to environmental regulations. I have gorgeous blue skies almost every day.

19. Traffic: true

20. Wealth gap: true thanks to GOP federal policies

21. Progressive criminal laws: you’re 100% correct, and it’s a big problem. So, you’re right about some, but not all
