Which Richmond girls? What team do you mean? |
| How much money did Arlington Red pay Richmond to be in the 3rd bracket? No way they should be that high the way they been playing $$$$ |
This is generally the problem with the American elite. We are confusing acceptance and placement with accomplishment and development. The brackets will always be a little off. Let’s see how the teams perform in the games they have. Everybody knew last year Alexandria Red boys 08 was the best team in Virginia. They put them in the second bracket. They won their games by a combined score of 22-0. This year, despite remaining the best team in Virginia, the tourney placed them in the third division. Who cares? People still know who is who without looking at brackets if you have seen the teams play. It is unfortunate but inevitable that there isn’t better matching of competitors. But the brackets generally look ok on the boys side. Don’t worry about the placement so much and focus on development and competition on the field. The rest is out of your child’s control. |
LOL |
The OP list BSC and Pipeline as being in the top flight. Did you miss that? I guess Pipeline is not part of the DMV in your book? BSC is interesting looking at their record. They basically won their own tournament and not really much else. Many have said BSC tournament was really watered down vs other years. Yet the ranking still awarded a boat load if points for winning it. BSC league play is below average at best. Though maybe playing good teams will help development unlike Loudoun and Arlington in the CCl. Let’s see how BSC and Pipeline do in the top bracket. |
| Where are all the great TSJFCV teams????? |
| No BRYC either? They use to always play in Jeff Cup |
| The real question is why hasn’t MLS announced they are going to have a combine at the tournament. I heard they were planning one immediately following the next U12 state cup. |
Yep that is a shocker. Teams who beat them are a bracket or two lower(or four - Stoddert blue). Not that it really matters. There are 12 teams in the first and 8 in the second brackets. If you are not in one of those brackets(really just the first) your team is not really all that- ie there are a lot of teams ahead of you. 2nd to 3rd bracket they are sorting out teams 20-28. Jeff Cup usually does a good job of matching teams. Even the lower brackets are usually competitive. |
| I don’t see the boys schedules. |
Is it Richmond Kickers then? Must be. A large chunk of RU ECNL girls come from there. |
DA teams can't play in the Jeff Cup because of the format. Until Jeff Cup adds a DA friendly bracket (no more than 2 games in a row), you won't see them. The only exception is the U13 team because that is a pilot age group. For BRYC, GFR and some others, they must not have applied. Jeff Cup wouldn't have turned them away. |
| VYS will dominate! |
Not talking about the TSJFCV DA teams....but all the other amazing TSJFCV teams at the non-DA age groups....U10, U11, U12, where are they????? |
Jeff Cup isn't good enough |
